"'When the moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars, then peace will guide the planet and love will steer the stars. This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius"...maybe it sounds dated, but it still gives me goose-bumps.
Most people had never even heard about astrology when that song came out. We knew we had to get it together and that the world and people needed to change for the better.
We made a peaceful revolution, where love and gentleness was the currency. But we had to fight for it in our homes, in our bedrooms and on the streets. We had to fight to grow our hair, to wear our jeans, to listen to our music, to refuse to fight, to march for peace. It didn't come from doing nothing, but from knowing that we had to take action. Having the courage to speak out, to get arrested, to tie ourselves to trees, to lay down in front of trucks. Having the audacity to see ourselves as The Beautiful People. Having the vision and the courage to make a new kind of statement and a new kind of life.
    "We are this season's people.
There will be no other people this season.
If we blow it, it's blown".
(Stephen Gaskin from "This Season's People")
We came together to fight prejudice and fear with love and compassion. To conquer war with peace and hatred with love. To break free from the servitude of conservatism because we had a love of freedom and a soaring belief in ourselves. And I think we were a good crop of people that season, and we didn't blow it. The seeds that we planted are still sprouting and producing new life. The young hippies here are the living proof. But it's still up to all of us to walk our talk, to put our passionate philosophies to the test of life's experiences. To create a better life.

Where are the people of courage? Where are the ones who will stand up against all the lies, deceptions, propaganda, ignorance, confusion, apathy, inertia, oppression, racism, fascism and greed? Did we come this far just to leave it to someone else to fix? I think not...

Yeah, we've been around a long time and some of us are getting tired and maybe feeling a bit old. But while ever you can remember something, you can recreate it inside yourself. We can't let ourselves rust up like old boats. Turn the music up full blast. Dance in the living room. Be a child of the universe again. Love yourself up. Love others with the purest passion and dedication. Speak with courage and conviction. See a rock band. Fuck the daylights out of someone. Ride a Harley. Remember how freedom feels...and then fight for it.

I don't know, if I would like to drive a sun powered Harley. And the Harleys of today are sun powerded too. The power of the sun was in the plants million years ago, which became later the petrol oil. But I wouldn't mind to use a sun powered vehicle beside the Harley.

Thanks Goddess Om for opening this thread.

Yes, we're still the people of courage!!!!

    TEACH YOUR CHILDREN

You who are on the road
Must have a code that you can live by
    And so become yourself
Because the past is just a good bye.
    Teach your children well,
Their fathers' hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams
The one they pick's, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.
    And you, of tender years,
Can't know the fears that your elders grew by,
And so please help them with your youth,
They seek the truth before they can die.
    Teach your parents well,
Their children's hell will slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams
The one they pick's, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.

Fuel cells will change alot of things that are going on, but I think on a large scale even they are not getting the respect and attention they should.

Greenland or is it Iceland??? One of them is almost totally if not totally dependent on wind power now.
We could have taken alot of that 200 billion that went overseas and built some hellacious windfarms. Ever see one of those???Blow your socks off (literally).

As long as greed and big business are running this country, I am not holding my breath on this one, we do what we can on our land to not soak up mass quantities, and be aware. But "large scale" wise???That went out the window with Jimmy and his energy credits being wiped out by the Reagan admn.
Just think if we could have kept that up from 1977 where we would be now??
Not as dependent as they want you to think we are on other countries. We have massive oil reserves here, but in greed usa they want you to think we must keep our interests protected overseas. I have no interests to protect do you??? At least not any across the water. And certainly not at the expense of this country.
I've been involved in politics and worked for a newspaper and its more for naught than not. I used to be very involved in numerous political causes but now, yeah I guess I am tired, its sometimes more than I can bear to see the stupidity that is generated in the name of "Goverment".
As far as one party over another??? Shit, do you think the President actually has much say?? They bombard you with their spin on the issues that their "team" has ear marked, that they deem the issues that are on the majorities tongues, then when everyone is rallying around and patting everyone else on the back............

    Nevermind......lol.
Teepi gets nutty over this stuff and starts dancing around the campfire, spouting one of her rants..........

Bro budz, I'll go ya one better. They don't suppress it; they BUY it. If you're holding rights on the patent, you can do what you want with it. Talk about control. And what do the oil companies have more than oil? $$$$$$$$$

teepi, I think those oil reserves are 'strategic'. You know, for when we go to war and need more oil than the Saudis are willing to give us. OR when the president needs to ramp up his popularity with the sheeple and lower the price per gallon for a month or two - just long enough to win the election.

I have to go along with luvndrumn.. My hubby Lynn worked in the oil fields 20 yrs. Everything in East Texas was oil related in the 80's, trucking.. trains.. water disposal plants...Lynn and his crew layed most all the pipe line from okla to la..when Lynn broke his back bustin' out a slab in 87, the oil biz was ging down.. they capped all the wells in this area and belive me, there's plenty of oil here in texas.. Lynn and I both have 'Oil Royalities' we inherited from our grandparents.. the trend that has been around here of late, is that the oil fields are starting to open back up again.. pumping units are starting to show up back off in the woods.. I dont know what indacation this may bring..crude oil in texas is not as high grade as forien oil, from what I understand but hey I'm just an Iridologest what do I know about oil.. it sure doesnt show up in the royality checks, last one was for 1.64.. the one before that was $0.14 .. ha... the stamp cost more that the oil..

hey HomeBudz/ what about gas-a-hol.. can ya convert a hog over to let's say.. corn mash?? not trying to be funny..I can't see a future without the Harley.. it just wouldn't be right.. and what would my bro in law do all day without his.. who would he sleep with at night without his Harley.. his wife??? ohh myyy.. and all our bro bikers.. good grief.. I shudder to think of all the bikers without petral for their bad machines..

Unless the engine is designed to run on alternative fuels,no.If you look in the fuel requirments in your owners manual, you'll find what fuels you can safely run.Ethanol and methanol are a no no unless your vehicle has been designed to run that.If not, you'll not only damage your engine, you void the warrenty.I found this out the hard way on my then new 2001 jeep. The mileage dropped by more then half and it fried my very expensive splitfire platinum plugs. This happened when driving across nebraska. All of their fuel is like 10% ethanol from corn.I don't recommend it.

Yeah Peace, i recall seeing something on the tube awhile back about a converter a man invented for your vehicle that would run the used cooking oil through.

He had restaurants giving him gallons of the stuff.

Another example of something you hear a blurb about and then nothing else.....
Could it be a mid-night visit from the men in black suits???????

Wow - Shamless, your family sure has been through the mill, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. You are both admirable, having come through so much and holding to your beliefs and ways of life.

You're so right LUV about strategies...we are manipulated all the time with things like that. Tell the sheeple (I love that word) what they want to hear, peppered with what we want them to think they want and lo and behold.....big bro comes out on top every time.
Like I said, when mass quantities of people get feed up then things may start to change but not untill they are hit in the wallet hard and long enough will they start saying "Hey, wait a minute..."........

Remember about 3 years back when this whole gas thing started going goofy??? And the long haul truckers started blocking the interstates...then the prices went back down (a bit) now they have steadily been growing and yo-yoing since???
The truckers scared the powers that be...but the truckers can't afford to abandon trucks or stop working for any length of time...so things just ease right into crap.
Look at milk right now...almost 4 dollars a gallon in some areas. We are lucky because we make our own here in this house, but I see people buying it in the store..griping the whole time instead of refusing to buy it and finding an alternative...thats is a big problem...ignorance and not many willing to take on the task of learning for themselves the ways of making do.
Just wait till we go into a major depression in this country...think it can't happen??? Has before, and war being the big business that it is, is what pulled this country out. But things aren't how they were back in the 30's and 40's....peoples attitudes aren't the same.
We are not "all for one and one for all" anymore...It's "I got mine's..fuck you"...and "I'll take your's too...fuck you"...
So....if we are faced with a depression, things will be far worse than they ever were at that time....It's imperative that we be prepared to be as self-suficiant as possible.

Also, don't you just hate to see waste?? Thats another one, a throw away society, from trash on the sides of the roads. to our marriages...

And another rant I could get started on is "the banking industry" thats something else that will eventually affect us all, I read that some employers are going to use a card for their employees and charge up the card with their pay so that the employee uses it like a credit card and every time they use it it will debit them about 2.00.
The employer benifits by not having to have a paper payroll done and gets a kick back from the card company, ...it was about a year ago that I read about this....but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the idea didn't catch on.

It seems that while we're asleep they're up thinking about ways to screw us out of our money....

Ok enough for today...I have to go find a way to make my daily 10.00

living off the grid can be scary if one thinks about what may happen when the shit does hit the fan..everybody will be in chaos and ripin' off what ever they want.. if you got it and they want it..it's gonna come down to shooting someone..I don't mind sharing.. if you work for it..but to come and take it from my kids mouth, well there's gonna be a show down.. I don't know how that effects my hippieness but mama tiger over rules mama hippie..and I will shoot.. my hubbys people are The Clantons from OK Corral and Wyatt Erp and they a pretty wild bunch still.. I'd hate to see a rumble out here on the farm over tomatos or a goat .. but what are we ready to do.. how far would you go.. or would you offer it all to them in peace and love..

Often oil companies try to buy up the rights to alternative energy sources as quickly as possible. Firstly it helps them to maintain their profits whilst killing mother nature, and secondly it gives them a fallback once the oil supplies have run out. Bio-diesel can be bought from suppliers here in the UK, but it's quite heavily taxed, and costs about the same as normal diesel. It's quite easy to make it at home though, and costs about a quarter the price of normal diesel when home made, although doing this without going through the tax man is quite illegal. With that in mind, I fully intent to start making my own as soon as I get myself a car....
