It's 2013. I would hope people are beyond that by now. But I have a problem with anyone, regardless of their skin color, who would judge someone of another skin color simply because of their race. The environment a person is brought up in has far more to do with who they are than race. But I have met too many non-white people I like to be a racist. On the other hand, I have met bad people from every race. It's not limited to skin color.

Can we agree as to what a racist is? Is it strictly a skin colour bias or should we include tribal/cultural bias?

I understand and appreciate foreign cultures, but why do I /have/ to like and get along with them? And if I choose not to, why does that make me a racist? I don't intervene with people that are junkies or metros or anyone like that, I mean good luck to them but they aren't for me. Why can't we, with our knowledge of human emotion, choose to disassociate with a culture based on personal preference without being labelled a racist?

I think every race has it's bad elements which make the rest of the race look bad. Like we have whites/honkys, blacks/niggers, mexicans/wetbacks, etc. It's the latter half of any race which I don't like.

the first sign my uncle saw many years ago was in and english pub, when he walked in.it read,no blacks ,no dogs and no irish. but why are racists racist,is it an indoctrine passed down from family to family, like a hereditary malignant disease.or is just fear true lack of understanding any race thats not their own.

It doesn't have to be passed down. It can be learned from bad experiences, like a black man killing your father can make somebody racist against blacks.

Racism is believing that one race is superior to another race.

You don't have to get along with anyone. It's your choice.

Racism comes into play when you believe one race is superior and that other races are inferior.

    That's what racism is.

I disagree. Racism can also be a hatred of another race and have nothing to do with inferiority or superiority.

Well, according to dictionaries you are incorrect, Mike.

The hatred you are referring to is Bigotry.

Scholastic's may say one thing but I have known many racist and seen racism in many forms and it is not always about superiority but also about hatred.

Just look at hatred directed towards muslims after 9/11. That wasn't about superiority it was driven by anger and hate.

Mike that would be racism = superiority and bigotry = hatred.

How can we have a discussion about apples and oranges if people don't know the differences as well as the similarities?
