well....it still doesn't feel like spring around here, considering we just got about four inches of snow......but i did do some major cleaning recently because my mom, my sister, and my niece are coming to visit......

....i don't mind cleaning, as long as it's my mess......after cleaning HUGE rental homes for two summers, i really don't appreciate having to clean up strangers' messes......

I did all my major cleaning last weekend, but there's only a few weeks out of the year that we can drag everything to the street and have it taken away. They have the dumbest garbage rules here. Anyway, I have everything clean except for my two storage rooms and I can't WAIT to get Erik in there to help me go through and throw away all the crap that has accumulated (what like I'm going ot do it all by myself? PFF!).

I might be moving into this beautiful cabin for a few months while Erik and I look for a house to rent. I hope we get it. I love my apartment, but I need a change.

Dont' you hate those places that no matter how much you clean, it still looks dirty?

I am NOT a clean freak. I'm pretty messy for a girl. I don't give a shit if things are clean, but I've found that when I clean, Erik wants to do more stuff for me, so I'm bartering my services for kyndness. :)

I started my spring cleaning last week but I have a lot more I want to accomplish, like finally going through all of the stuff that I've been meaning to get ready for charity. It sure will clear out a lot more room once I do. I'm such a pack-rat. ;)

I actually enjoy cleaning, it relaxes me and makes me feel proud of all of my hard work when it's done.

I was visiting my 17 year old sister this past weekend and her room was a total mess. I sat there, chit-chatting with her as she was getting ready to go out for the evening, and I couldn't help myself, I lost all control. I started going about, picking up her things, straightening up. She started cracking up when I apologized. Then, when it was time for us to leave, I still couldn't stop cleaning and I had to say out loud "okay, okay, I'm done, I'm going now, no more" but my sister literally had to drag me by the arm to get my away from her mess of a room. She thought it was hilarious.

I'm a neat freak, obsessed you could say. I can't throw anything away though. That's part of the reason why we have no room. I save every little thing, thinking that I can use it for something sometime, so all of our closets, drawers, basement, and garage, are just full of boxes and things that I just refuse to throw out. But that kind of mess is out of sight, so it's out of mind. ;)

Has anyone here ever made their own furniture polish? I made some last weekend and I must have done something wrong, because my wood furniture still feels slightly greasy a week later! The recipe I had called for 2 parts olive oil and 1 part lemon juice.

I don't know, maybe I got a little over-zealous with the amount I was using. *lol* The recipe suggested storing the polish in a spray bottle and spraying as needed for dusting and using a dry cloth, but all of my spray bottles around here have stuff in it and I didn't feel like going out and buying another one at the moment. So, I just dipped my cloth into the mixture and used it that way. Maybe it was too concentrated.

    Oh well.

All women need to know how to clean well. It's in their genetic make up. Any woman of mine that doesn't clean beeter be prepared to give a hardy hello to the curb.

me and my roomie did our "spring cleaniing" in february. our 3rd roomie got kicked out of school, so we changed the room around. so, in the process of moving stuff in my dorm room around, we did a major cleaning session.

but my roomie now, hes an obsessive-complulsive cleaner...so all of his stuff is clean and i just have stuff around the room.

I did some cleaning this morning. I clean (vacuum, dust, wash floors) every Monday and Friday unless my husband has off on Fridays. Then I clean on Thursdays.

My house is always picked up and organized. I run a tight ship. lol I can't stand clutter and dirt. My yard is even immaculate. When my boys are done playing outside for the day everything gets picked up and put away.

    I admit I am obsessive/compulsive. I don't "freak" like I used to though.

Sometimes my boys will cover their ears. Buddy used to run downstairs and then when I went downstairs to clean he would run upstairs and hide under the table.

Why do vacuum cleaners have to be so damn loud?

That's just like me. Clutter in my house puts me in a bad mood (unless it's out of sight, like in a closet or drawer, etc., that's my downfall), I can't stand it. No toys all over the yard at the end of the day here either. Everything is put away. My kids are good at picking up for the most part. My 5 year old usually picks up without me even telling him to, and even my barely 2 year old twins pitch in and help. Not sure how long this eagerness to help clean will last, but I'm enjoying it while I can. *lol*

I'm not nearly as bad as I used to be though. I've relaxed a bit, thank goodness. ;)

My younger son loves when I run the vacuum. He runs and gets his little push toy that has the balls in it that pop when you roll it and pretends he's vacuuming as well. It's so cute. My oldest son just runs around like a wild banshee when I'm vacuuming. *lol* My daughter, well, she just watches with eyes wide as saucers clutching her bear. I think it freaks her out a little. ;)

My 6 year old will put his bike away and help out with inside cleaning. My 4 year old needs a lil' direction in that department. lol

I'm a big fan of plastic containers. We don't have a lot of storage so my husband put shelves up in the garage. I used to have boxes but they get moldy so I replaced them with plastic containers. My husband even labeled each one so I won't have to take them all down to find what I'm looking for.

Every week (just about) I ask one of my boys to bring me my bag. Then we sit and divide up change I've collected over the week and they put it in their banks. They don't care if it's a penny or a lot of change. They love the reward. I try to compensate for their hard efforts. lol
