Man sentenced for possessing 'vile' images and stories http://dailygleaner.canadaeast.com/front/article/803336&p=3 I didn't know where to put this, but this story enrages me. Doesn't this limit the free speech and thought a little too much. I mean there was no actual victim in this case. All he had was a bunch of stories and cartoons that someone found offensive. I don't agree with what he wrote and drew but that doesn't dispute the fact that he shouldn't be thrown in jail for drawing/writing them. People draw and write about people getting killed all the time, that doesn't mean they're charged for murder.
We ARE talking about child pornography here. Personally, if some person wants to get their rocks off by looking at anime tentacle-rape cartoons or something of the sort, it's their business. However, when we stray into child porno it's a difficult situation to really moderate. One one end, no children were hurt/psychologically scarred as a result of text-based stuff, but on the other end, it IS child porno.
Woah... you can't penalize someone for stories. The images, yes, because actual children were abused to create them. But stories, never.
Surely none of that is actually illegal. But it feels right that he should be restricted. I am confused.
