Argument to straight edges

The thing that pisses me off with straight edges is that most of them have never even tried weed! I mean the most compelling reason I can think of for why they havn't tried it is that it is an ilegal drug, well heres an agrument for why they should try it regardless of the law

The government has told you, you shouldn't smoke weed? Well would you still obey the law if they made burgers illegal because of their high fat content? would you still obey the law if they told you that you are only allowed 14 hours a day maximum inside your house because 90% of all deaths are house-hold related? How far would the goverment have to go before you end up breaking the law? Well i'm saying, by continueing to keep weed illegal they have gone too far!........ then you can carry on with facts on mj

Most straight-edgers opinions on drugs spur from what they think they should believe, and not what they actually do believe. Straight-edgers I know break a lot of laws with no regard, however when it comes to the use of drugs or alcohol, they have the notion that such things are for "losers". Ironically, a lot of them I know use tobacco products.

You will not get across to straight-edgers, because most of them are not free-thinkers. That is not to say that free-thinkers don't use drugs. It's just free-thinkers are not straight-edgers, who do as they are told, and do not bother to question why.

A stoner and a straight-edge are too different breeds, and neither can change each other's mind any more than whatever factor it was that set them down the road they chose.

I've spent a long time educating people on cannabis; teaching them about prohibition, disproving rumors they've heard, demonstrating how you can enjoy it without being a loser. Some people are inhibited by a sense of morality or ethics that to them, makes using drugs unacceptable. Whatever influences the feeling varies from person to person. Straight-edgers are probably influenced by the common notion that "drugs aren't cool anymore". Of course you then have say, Mormons, who cannot use alcohol or other drugs due to religious practice. These are the types of people whoes mind you cannot change with logic or reasoning.

Personally, I see a kinship between people who have chosen to smoke pot becaus they researched, and those who have decided not to smoke pot because they have researched it. Both have made their own, informed decision.

The people that I absolutely cannot respect are those who do or don't do it simply because of influences around them. Be that influence from peers to do it, influence from teachers to not do it, etc. These people very rarely actually consider WHY they are or are not doing it, but rather just listen to the voices that are telling them to.

 

The whole straight edge lifestyle is nothing more than a cult. And a damn hypocritical one at that.

 

They have never tried it because their philosophy involves never trying it, and it's just one of many labels that broke off from 'punk'.

The whole ideology of punk was a big fuck you to the autorities and their bullshit, so punks certainly would not belive drugs are wrong because the government tells them so.

 

I have no problem with real straightedge kids, they respect users of drugs, just as we should respect their choice of not smoking. It's when we are criticized for using drugs that it is bad.

 

And then came along a few goverment funded organizations that influenced Abstiance among newer teens in -this- generation that brought about a new subculture

The funny part is that most sXe kids are hooked on caffiene and ingest thousands of harmful "socially sanctioned" chemicals like flouride, MSG, artifical sweeteners, and etc. which are way worse than marijuana.

 

Yeah no kidding... not to mention energy drinks.

Every time i go to the show, all the SE kids are fuckin standing around with about a million cans of 'Monster' lying around... arent they supposed to be against drugs and shit? Yet their consuming mad amounts of caffine.

 

A lot of the people who have fought tooth and nail to get marijuana legalized aren't even a functioning part of society in the first place, so I'm not sure why they have such a big problem with such an easy substance to come by and use without incident.

Besides, even if it were legal there would be so many conditions to abide by that one would still probably need to break the law in order to fully enjoy it.

Bottom line: the only people whose lives have been turned upside down by the illegal status of marijuana are the ones who seem to think that being able to walk around in public while mouth fucking a blunt is a solution to something other than behavior that's problematic to begin with - which it isn't.

it all depends on whos dumb enough to get caught. the exception to the rule are those minor few who just get fucked for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. its not that hard to be a secretive smoker, just dont carry it on you when you dont have to, blaze in private, and dont talk or be about it.

 

What you say is mostly true but the government wants people to get hooked on drugs so we are unaware of the wrongdoings they commit. There is no war on drugs. Our government wants us stoned and drunk so their job is easier. All they need to do is make tons of reality t.v. shows for the stoners to watch.

 

I just wish everyone would mind their own business. Straight edge people should not complain about other people taking drugs, and many of you should shut up with regards to them not taking drugs. Who cares what people like that think anyway?
