http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/8023460.stm Unexpected turn of events, I wouldn't have been surprised if he became an independent, but I guess he went all the way. So it appears soon whenever the case in Minnesota gets settled that the Dems will finally have the golden ticket, a filibuster proof senate
I "treat" myself to the accidental comedy of Rush Limbaugh en route to word and I have no doubt this will be bitterly railed against.
You know we were joking about that a few weeks ago when watching Bill O'Riley at 4am, "you know maybe the reason Bill and so many of these other people have so many viewers is the fact 1/2 of them are people like us who watch it out of comedy"
well im pretty pumped that he has switched parties but not everyone is so excited...in fact a lot of people are pretty pissed and he is up for reelection soon so we might not really see much of that filibuster proof senate unfortunately...
Running as a Dem he'll probably win in PA, he's pretty popular. But remember aside from him in 2010 the entire house and a 1/3 of the senate goes back up for reelection
he'll always be the same bottom feeder who took up for ira einhorn. i have no use for the guy, he lowered the unicorn killer's bail from $40,000 to $4,000.
Arlen Spectator (as I call him) is a hideous individual and his corruption goes all the way back to the days of the Warren Commission.
Nice! Of course, he did it for political reasons, his claim to a switch in ideology is utter bullshit, but now with a fillibuster-proof Senate, the dems have the majority in every facet of government, so no more fucking excuses!!! The dems will bear full responsibility for every decision they make from here on out, I love it.
Specter is a shadowy character from way back. He didn't stand much of a chance of getting reelected, so he felt he had to make a switch. Obama said he will campaign for him. .
This is fantastic. This is what political junkies live for. Specter is indeed scum, but it's time to kick those guidebook legislation blocking republicans to the curb. Are there any independents elected this round?
*ears prick* Whoa, this guy goes back to the Warren Commission how, dude? Was he World Bank Wallstreet groomed?
I haven't always agreed with Specter but I feel he's probably on of the few politicians that actually reads the legislation he votes on.
Are you saying he's gay, and that's a reason not see him as credible? Maybe the republican party is only interested in the likes of people like Miss California and Sara Palin. I'll vote for the politician that reads the legislation they vote on, is familiar with the constitution and the laws of the land and wishes to protect my rights.
I'm with you, lets just hope when the Dems get 60 seats we can start seeing this "change", hopefully in my pocket book.
Specter is not scum never has been scum. I haven't always agreed with him, but he has always had a reason for every vote he has ever made. How many politicians can you say that for? He may have defended a murderer but under US law even the guilty have a right to a defense. And that is a primary right I am not willing to vacate.
What about the possibility of Specter switching back to the Republicans after Obama gets him reelected. Anyone know if that is legally permitted? .
Party affiliation isn't a legally binding contract for life. I've belonged to four parties in my voting lifetime. When I get fed up with the crap I switch.
