Baby Boomers......

I don't know what you call them over in the US, but we have got a generation in Australia called "The Baby Boomers" whom were all born after World War II because the government was encouraging people to breed. Now theres fucking millions of them, like a damn plague and they own most of the houses and the nice cars and the good jobs...

...but they're all so fucking rich that most of them are disgustingly fat. Its funny seeing a couple make their way from their beautiful 2 story house and landscaped garden to get in their petrol guzzling 4wd only to drive down the road to get to the restaurant, and they're wearing tracksuits that look like they came from target because no nice clothes will fit them.

 

Yeah, they call us boomers here too. I hope I am the rule rather than the exception though, being only 190 pounds,driving a beat up old truck, rehabbing houses for the poor and living in a shack of only 900 square feet. I wear jeans from the thrift store exclusively and never eat at restaurants.

 

SO your mad becuase they worked hard, saved, invested and have things you dont? Seems you might need a hobby or a job? Odds our your a baby boomers off spring or sub off spring so your destiny awaits you too perhaps?

 

I admire you because I could never in my life live that type of lifestyle just to do work that benefits others. Call me selfish, because I am, but I like luxury. Can't help myself :&

 

No, I'm mad because they fought for women's lib, their rights at work, and now they're taking it away from us because they're rich and comfortable and have the power in numbers. They were the original liberals and now can't be held accountable for a thing. They were a generation where permanent jobs were the rule, unemployment was low, and now young people are struggling and insecure because of anticipation for the next hours cut or lay off. They got free education whilst they've not only made us pay for university but jacked up the prices so much that its only feasible for their wealthy grandchildren to go.

Of course there are exceptions to the rule.

MY parents were not baby boomers, nor were my grandparents.

You don't live in Australia and you don't know what its like to have very little opportunities.

So go fuck yourself.

Oh yeah, lets not forget that many of them inherited money from their parents but now wont leave a cent to their children because they'd rather spend it on large cars, "luxury" holidays and much useless bullshit

Anyway, I'm not complaining for when they all retire, sell of their big cars and houses and their jobs are available...

 

Riiiiiight, because only people in Australia have limited opportunities. Only Australia's economy is in a precarious place because of hte baby boomer generation. Only Australia has ever had a problem pop up because of babyboomers.


Why don't you try to think before you speak? Seriously.
North America has a shitload of problems due to the babyboomers too. Our retirement plan (the government one that is) is gonna collapse in a few years up here in Canada when all the babyboomers retire. The amount of turnover in many places will be huge, training costs are gonna rocket on up to replace all those who retire (or are forced to retire)...

we all have limited job opportunities, post-secondary education costs an arm and a leg for most people over here too. You're not the only poor soul out there for whom life isn't perfect, so mellow out.

Did I assume that you guys don't have the problems? In fact i `assumed you huys had it much worse than us, but i don't know the exact situation so i didn't want to say anything.

Am i speaking on behalf of myself or the many young people around the world who have to put up with the same shit?

In fact i feel sorry for you guys, I'd hate to live in a country where everyone seems to think "they know" when they actually don't.

 

One day people will realize that at least in America that the baby boomers as an age bracket are a large group but the rest out populate them as a whole. So VOTE, FIGHT let the old retire, there fighting days are over, your turn, step up! Poor oldhippie54 is a babyboomer for sure and he's a great guy on here. Im the tail end prodigy of Korean War vets starting up families just as Vietnam was swingin. I have had to work hard for what I have, anyone can do it, just what are you willing to do for it. Share your home, not have a tv for every room, limit electrical use, limit foods, collect, conserve, ect. Most of those baby boomers stemmed from dirt poor people like my grandparents, imagrants from Prussia, dirt poor from North Dakota in they 1920's. He walked 5 miles everyday to see if there was some work. The always offered for those who did not have. They worked very hard to raise thier children, thier children worked less hard than they becuase of thier parents efforts but still my father was working on a farn at 11 years old, no not the family farm, that was a given but on anothers farm to help out the family. My life was far less hard due to thier labors of the past, I had cool stuff, electronics, normal chores, nice car, went to college. My kids had it even easier! So maybe them babyboomers might have been too easy on the kids?

 

Hey i'm doing evything i can to get by, i ride a bike instead of a car, i don't watch TV, I try to eat environmentally safe foods etc......

Well I shouldn;t act like i'm so great. But just know i'm more pissed off at the people in this thread who didn't think before they responded than the baby boomers. I feel sorry for the spoilt fattys.

 

Actually your concerns are worthy just I feel they are misdirected, it seems you want others to fix your generations problems, your babyboomers in thier youth had to fix the problems of thier day, your turn, step up, the door is there, kick it in, smash it, burn the bastard but dont expect too many to do it for you!

 

So the entire baby boomer generation is spoiled and fat? In the ol days there were far fewer wealthy people. If there hard work has made it so they can enjoy themselves great Im happy for them all!

As for oportunities, you need to make em, its no ones job to make your life better, its yours. Im not against you, just feel alot of people expect things instead of doing for themselves is all.

Perhaps in your country it is not the case, maybe them old people made sure you will all be there slaves or something.

 

Hey man, I never said I want someone to fix my problems. I was just pointing out the irony that these rich people have got everything except fitness.

There are lots of things I want to do for myself and my genration and i am trying to do, but it doesn;t mean i don't have the right to bitch and moan too.

In America we can thank them fat spoiled rich babyboomers for that ability and yes you have the right to do so, I guess my point is better to save that energy fixing it but its an opinion and there like ass holes and I tend to be known as one ALOT!

 

Might help, Im pretty darn old myself, just put in a 13hr day driving, hurt my knee and the world loves me so much that the restroom is about 2 blocks away again so I have to limp there and back not to mention climb out and back in this big old thing, lol Maybe glasses would help me, I shall have to consider that one, lol But would not be as fun as a visit from a person down under, would much rather enjoy the chat.

 

In Australia they are actually beginning to take that ability away though.

And it wasn't the baby boomers who earnt you that right, it was those who founded your country.

 

Anyway....I just don't like it when large scores of rich and powerful people have a choice to do the right thing and they often don't do it. Any generation. There is plenty to bitch about mine...i swear we are the dumbest.
