What does everyone know about baby slings. My son will be 3 weeks old tomorrow and is starting to get a little neck control, but not enough to have his head flopping around. Someone gave me one of those backpack thingies, but I think he needs to be bigger for one of those. Any suggestions on how to make a sling for infants, or where to get one. Preferably I'd like to make my own. Anyone know of any good websites with directions?

I would reccomend against the back pack untill babe is like 6 months old.

Most babies LOVE to be worn :)

We have a Mei Tei and I really like it.
I can wear her four different ways....in the front, facing me or facing out and on my back, facing me or facing out. I haven't tried her on my back yet because she is too small still.

I purchased mine from a WAHM, but they look fairly easy to make if your handy with a sewing machine.
It is pretty much just a rectangle of fabric with four straps. If you do a search, you will come across pictures.....

We started out with a pouch-type sling. It worked okay for about 1-2 months. The problem with that was that she couldn't see out and she would get mad. It also hurt my neck and shoulder because her weight wasn't evenly distributed.

    Good luck with your search!

Mei Teis rock, but for older kids.

As for babies, you sling em, you can feed em incognito. Slings rock.

This is the one we used:

My husband actually sewed it for me, because he understood the instructions, and i didn't, lol. I think you and your wife would really like this one, as it's VERY adjustable, so you both could wear it, and it has extra fabric for her nursing convenience :)
