Soooo, it's almost time to dread. I'm still debating if I should backcomb or twist and rip. So what one do you guys suggest, and why... I think I will dread my hair in about a month or so....

I would vote twist and rip - that's what I did, and the main advantage I see is that it avoids the majority of the backcombed, hair sticking out at crazy angles problems. Unless you're looking to do really fat sections, in which case backcombing would probably be a better choice.

    twist and rip >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> backcombed

the whole idea of using a comb to make dreads seems kind of oxymoronic imo

teasing and combing my hair in the wrong direction always made my skin crawl. I even tried doing it at 1st, but just couldn't LOL. TnR was just MUCH easier for me.

    Love it xD

I'd T&R, I backcombed but they all fell out and looked shockingly bad for the first like ever.

People who have T&R have had the best aesthetic results throughout, and it sounds like they didn't fall out niver.

    ^^

the ones that i did t&r fell out too. i still think that just backcombing the roots in sections is the best way to do it. then just let the rest lock up on it's own.
