Hey everyone. I'm currently working from home, making and selling jewelry, something I've been doing for a few years now. Unfortunately, it's just doing nothing for me in the way of pleasure, and I've gotten the travel bug. There are so many places I want to visit: New Mexico, Montana, Ireland, India, Africa, Australia, etc., etc. I'm currently reading all I can about backpacking and plan to take a few camping trips close to where I live in late Oct./early November. The problem is that I'm afraid to go on my own, and I don't know anyone who is interested in backpacking, camping, hiking, or anything like that. Is there anyone interested in doing this type of thing with me? I'm living outside of Houston right now, and I'm very interested in meeting anyone who might want to take part in this. Just PM me or reply -- hope to hear from you! :)

Edited to add: I'm taking the camping trips near my house with my dad. I'm looking for people to accompany me across the country and/or abroad.

Hey how's it goin abbey, I live in Beaumont, me and my friend have been talking about the same thing, we've been camping alot around here, off of the the bayous, by kayak. We're planning on goin up to Canada pretty soon, his family has a lot of farm land a little east of Toronto. I think he wants to go around December, but I'm not real sure it may be sooner.

I done it before. lived in my pack for years. dont really have the cash to go abroad though. the key is traveling light, very very light. hate it when i hook up with someone and they say 'since your pack is so light, can you help me carry some stuff?' your happiness on the road is dependent on the actual weight in your pack. also your ability to stay dry and eat. all i really go with is a backpack, sleeping bag (0 degree), rain gear, water filter, tent. in that order. sometimes a guitar or some stuff to make hippie hemp crap if im feeling ambitious.

It is currently snowing for the first time this season (we just had the first november of recorded history without snow) and is a mild 32 F or 0 C ...

ain't that bad. the rest of canada gets much colder (except the vancouver area including the island)

I keep thinking I want to do the Inca trail down South America... anyone else pondering this route?

I'm interested in doing some camping, hiking Abbey. I have plenty of hiking and camping experience. I lived in Oregon for a couple years and have hiked portions of the PCT.

I'm also interested in thru-hiking the PCT along with the CDT and the AT.

    I sent you a PM.
