The Bahrain government used Facebook to track down protesters during the country's aborted "Arab Spring" protests. Those that were found were arrested and tortured.

Al Jazzera has produced a documentary on this.

    Well what can I say?
I agreed to let my son have the Internet hooked up in my home and I'm liking it less everyday. I'm not making a difference in the lives of others with my appeals to logic and common sense. Because it appears that the overwhelming majority of people would rather tag each other on Facebook instead of being sensible. Therefore, I've paid for the service until the end of this month and I'll send back the modem when it's over.

So I guess I'm going to go back to using my library card as a way to get information. Thank God I'm an old man because that means I'll probably be dead before they start closing the libraries.

What a waste the future will be.
