So I finally decided to dig my heels into graphic arts design for a change and stop focusing on how the gut's of everything work to focus more on the aesthetics for now. Grabbed a bamboo Connect pad, love the thing aside from now wishing for the $800 for a Visio5 pad. Problem: It's fucking with my mouse drivers and making it to where I need to use odd keyboard / mouse combos (Hold Click + Enter) to open some links or use right click menus to open links,,, I'm adapting to it, but I wonder if it may be due to using a usb Keyboard in addition to the usb pad? Anyone have similar issues?
Only thing I can think of is making sure your drivers are updated. Sometimes when I plug in my ipod via USB it will mess with my external HD... so like you said, it could be a USB issue.
Yep, reinstalled device drivers, thinking of reinstalling my usb hub drivers but currently no native keyboard on this laptop at all so messing with my only form of user input sort of creeps me out atm. :cheers2: I'm managing for the time, hoping Wacom updates soon, I'm not the only one having similar issues it seems.
I never used this one but I would almost expect mouse/pad conflicts because they tend to overlap in function. First are you using a USB hub or are they going into separate ports on the machine? (is this a laptop?)
Laptop, Pad shares external hub with speakers on one port and the keyboard / mouse on the other two ports being used for mouse and keyboard, but likely all the same base hub to the bus inside. I totallt removed the Keyboard so going back is not an option for me unless I can bridge the connector strip from the keyboard to the guts of a new one,,,I've done stranger things though. Unfortunately the pentip / enter method doesnt work always so I'm stuck keeping the mouse plugged in. Pisses me off as Iwas allexcited about taking a picture of the pad in use alongside my usb keyboard and my rat's running around on my lap with the caption "We dont need no stinkin mice" but that will have to wait for now.
It would be much easier on a desktop with several USB buses. Does the keyboard have a port that could accept the mouse? Would that allow you to plug the pad straight in? (I'm guessing 3 ports on the laptop, or what?) If you could get the mouse/keyboard (maybe even on that hub you have) plugged in one port, with the pad plugged in to another port furthest away physically (may be on a separate bus) It might work... Moving stuff around will reload a fresh copy of the drivers last installed as well.
And here we have it. Note: Big assed multimedia Keyboard has webcam in it's 1 of 2 USB ports (Which I may beef up to a USB3 port perhaps,,, as 3 port hub from laptop already has the Printer on the left USB port, the black keyboard to another, and a 4 port hub to the 3rd which is running the bamboo, my 2 speakers and the multimedia keyboard from 2003 (Which kicks ass btw) There have been 0 conflicts thus far and yes I am beginning to use both hands on either board while typing,,, it's kinda crazy but I think it's a good exercise for blowing off excess mental energy. I'll get a pic of whats under the Ouija board up later,,, and tthis is not how I usually have things laid out, but it worked for the shot & this crappy web cam.
Picture a Lotus chair meets command chair from Starship enterprise and you get the idea. I think of the Ouija as my own improbability drive. :cheers2: The breadboard where I'll build a switch-programmable hex code generator will sit in place of the original keypad with a quick ref chart for the essential ones like arrow, backspace, tab and enter...from components I can salvage from old garage door openers and a momentary contact push button from something as yet to be determined,,, maybe I'll just lick my finger and bridge the two wires?
Can you place that pad over where the old keyboard was? Or do you still need access to that... Would be neat to servo tape the pad where the old keyboard was.
I could, yea it would look cool, but having things as they are now, I don't understand why keyboards and touchpad mice weren't built as a detachable device to where the bulk of the system could sit on the desk and the Keyboard in your lap to begin with,,, But I think my next PC will be solar powered and wearable. More Cowbell indeed. :cheers2:
When I'm doing serious work on a computer I have a guitar in my lap or I'm standing, so that wouldn't work for me...
Well hell Tyrson, you're good people, sounds like you would love the system I'm prototyping when it's done. I'll make sure you're first on the list when we look for "first run trial users" (Along with Survivorman, "Wildman" Steve Brill and this dude, http://www.************/pages/Kevin-Thomas-Thomson/158126306202?ref=ts. cuz' I think he's exactly the kind of role model todays kids need more of.)
