I wish we didn't have firearms

though banning something doesn't really do much. I mean, c'mon, pot's illegal in most places yet it's ridiculously prevalent. Have to control the makers of it. C'mon, sword fights and cavalry for wars and conflicts, much better than guns, cannons and nuclear weapons

 

People don't seem to understand that banning something doesn't make it illegal, harder, or change much of anything for the people who have no remorse for violent crimes... They can still obtain weapons for penny on the dollar as collateral, etc. It's not that hard to get a stolen/illegal Baretta for a couple hundred dollars.

Next time a revolutionary or civil war breaks out and you need to assemble a militia, you might have some regrets. Oh yeah, and let's not forget the martial law declared upon New Orleans looters and how Mayor Ray Nagin overruled the the second amendment after martial law was already declared when he realized somebody screwed up their planning and gang violence started breaking out. Never forget that history often repeats itself...

It's our constitutional right to bear arms. Considering that many of our freedoms are being taken away on a near daily basis, I say no, not to ban guns.

I am not for firearms, they don't exactly make me feel comfortable, however my husband is a proud, licensed concealed carrier and is all about exercising his constutional right for the safety of his family.

 

the intention of it was never for people to 'protect their family'. Thats but a common myth. The point was so people could overthrow an oppressive reigime.

 

i agree i rather kill with knives and aluminum bats, Premium made Snap On screwdrivers or beat then to death with a well made British umbrela .

no, we shouldn't... most killers and gangsters wear illegal guns anyway.... and guns don't kill people, people do... i'm agains weapons in total.... but i think people shoul have the right to carry them

 

Well we don't have them in the UK (ok, we don't have some guns anyway), and we do have a lower gun crime rate than the USA (I think!). I agree that banning them won't prevent people from getting hold of them in any way, but it may deter others.

I'm not too fond of guns, however I think people should be allowed to have them in their possession. I do think that there should be stricter gun control though.

No. Allowing only the police to carry weapons lends them too much false authority.

Having the obligation to register them and strict controls : yes

 

arming the working class and training them in guerilla warfare: yes

 

Hanguns? Yes.

Hungting rifles? Why? Very few people die from hunting rifles, the cost of the gun registry has been horrific (ie: you could save more lives investing in health care or welfare etc.)

 

dumb lets say you could "imposible" ban and round up all handguns . They would simply saw off rifles and shotguns barrels now your chances of living from a gun shot drop 75% . any shotgun or rifle caliber makes pistol amunition look dwarf power wise.
