Of all the places I go barefoot, my favourite is when I go to the shopping centre.
The floor feels smooth and it is so relaxing to shop with my shoes off.
However I notice that most shopping centres have policies which say you must wear shoes.
I go barefoot all the time to large shopping centres and only on one occassion have I been asked to leave but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what you can say if asked to leave?
Occassionally I do see other people barefoot in the shopping malls so I think it is becoming more accepted.
Unlike in the city streets or on the train the floor is a lot more clean and barefoot friendly.

Shopping barefoot is great! About 10 years ago I was in L.A. and went to the Century City Mall and another in West Hollywood (more upscale). No problems being barefoot. One woman said I should wear shoes (my feet were filthy) and I replied "How can you stand to be in those things?". If I were asked to leave I would ask if the mall ownership is publicly traded. Their business must be so good, they can afford to turn away cash paying customers.

Many department store floors are smooth and it's great to shuffle your feet along. I do the same on the smooth parking garage floors. Makes for great black soles! There's a picture of such a woman in my profile pictures.
