Is it here yet? Any criteria for starting and stopping? First day above 50F? Groundhog Day? (no, that's a movie, dummy!) First day of Spring (tra la)? Winter Solstice?
Totally true. Just trying to get an idea when most barefooters do most of their outdoor 'footing most of the time. Mostly.
...and whenever you feel comfortable barefoot. Since it's about well-being and health, there's no point in trying to set low-temperature records. Every barefooter has his/her personal temperature threshold. We're not barefooting for Guinness' sake, after all. Wiggling bare toes, ~*Ganesha*~
there is no such thing as barefoot season , just like there is no particular season for eating ice-cream. :afro:
Although barefoot for a few days including today, tomorrow may not make 50 degrees and it'll rain. Seems like Sunday will be the day for the annual shoe throwing out ceremony followed by 24/7 barefootedness. And I gotta admit having ice cream during a frigid winter is unappealing.
I thought it started Monday when it was 69F, but today it's about 32F with 6 inches of snow on the ground. :/
Well, since it appears (maybe) that the temps will be in the low to mid 60's from today on, I decided to toss the shoes and start 24/7 barefooting today (its 56 degrees) instead of next weekend. The only problem is that several days will be rainy. If that makes it a bit cold I will just have to deal with it just as last year I dealt with doing everything (including banks, Dr's offices, mall, etc) barefoot. It'll just have to be. Let's see if I get thrown out of places this year (the score was 2 last year)....
Well I had to abandon permanent barefooting today because I just went to do some errands and it's hailing out there. I've endured 50 degrees and a cold rain. But hail? Hard time finding old sneakers. Boo, hiss.
Year-round, and daily, except Wednesdays/birthdays/holidays, as long as the air temperature is at least 40F/04C with legwarmers mandatiry in lieu of socks so I don't get cold.
Year-round here also, only when it's below freezing I take some flipflops or sandals along in my bag, just in case I get stuck somewhere or otherwise get too cold. From 32F/0C up I don't even give it a second thought, I just go barefoot with as little thought as in mid-summer. My backup footwear rarely gets used, once or twice each the past two years (which had a brief but *very* cold spell, for our climate), not at all for five or six years before that.
Maybe this doesn't make me a 'twue bawefoowta' but I boot up for the snow. During thaw, I tend to wear my Vibrams. After that it's bare, until the snow hits again.
