I've been taking my birthcontrol pills, and I've been skipping the last week so that I can skip my period. The doctor said that was fine, as long as I had my period once every three months. Anyways, I skipped the last week of pills this month, and started my new pack Sunday. What the problem is, is that I started my period last night. I don't know if this is bad, or whats going on. It's not normal either. It's more brown than red. Has this happend to anyone else? What should I do? Anything? Should I just let it go?
when I was on BC the beginning of my periods was always brownish. It's just old blood. What do you mean "skipping the last week so that you can skip ur period?" It's just the word skipping that has me confused. Are you on the 28 pack with the "sugar pills" and that's what you're skipping? How long have you been taking them for?
She is skipping the placebo week and going straight to hormones again. At least that is what I am getting from what she said. It is normal to something have breakthrough bleeding when on that cycle and like barefoot_kirstyn said the color is normal because bc cause clotting so it will be darker at first.
28 day pack, skipping the placebo week. I've been on BCP for almost 2 years, except for 2 months, when I couldnt afford it after I lost my health inssurance.
Ok, now I get it. It's not a surprise that you have started to bleed since you've been on them for such a long time and your body has become accustomed to that routine. If you start taking the pills again, the bleeding should more than likely stop after a few days, if not just one or two. All in all, I wouldn't be concerned. If you are, go to the doctor, but I women have break through bleeding all the time, especially when doing something like this. I believe that this is only happening because you are breaking your normal cycle.
The same thing has happened to me in the few times I have tried to skip my period with this method. It just doesn't work for me. In fact, I end up spotting for days and days so it's almost as if I get a longer period than I would normally.
