(longer than i thought. take piss break now) The holiday season is coming up and gift giving is in order, santa is making his list and checking it twice and all that jazz. but what really matters? mmm the material presents that we enjoy till febuary untill we break them to figure out what makes that fun little noise or movement. what makes a good gift? price? functionality? durability? fun noises or movements? there all correct but in the market place there are dozens of choices to choose from so it may be difficult to select the best one this post was intentionaly for video games but wished to expand it for all gifts. the main goal i hope is just to have everyone please slow down and purchase wisely, not grab the shiney cheap thing on the shelf, throw it in a box and hand it to a loved one and expect them to be happy first off, and this is the key to everything, read reviews. dozens of people have allredy made the same mistake your about to by buying that product that may not make it to the car without having a part breaking off of it. everything from desktop nicnacks to high end computers to jewelry have reviews. learn from them, if 80% of the people say that the product is junk listen to them and listen to there suggestive alternatives. fourms are a much better source or reviews than websites unless there trusted unbiased websites (amazon, epinions ect are good) some sites just have dozens of false reviews where they payed someone to just sit down and inflate the companys ego for more sales. they will even post them all over the internet in dozens of sites so it all looks legit, hey ive fallen for it before. good way to dig through that BS is to type into your search engine product name + scam. this can give nitty gritty on people who were upset. but rember, take everything with a grain of salt. alot of manufactures are happy to answer questions if you bring such concerns to them, so if you only find 1 or 2 bad in a sea of good, its probably good. but ask the manufacture about these complaints the other consumer raised, see if there still an issue. if they refuse to talk however take that as a sign to stay away lets say for instance your buying tents for a loved one, okay. so you go to your favorate search engine, punch in tents and wow bazillions pop up, well find a few in your price range and that you like the style and functionality of them, then do reviews on the product name, see if say tent A is prone to ripping and tent B fades after being exposed to the sun and very brittle but tent C is made of good quality material plus has a 5yr warrenty. well i would do more research into tent C to make sure the wool isnt pulled over my eyes but it looks better than A or B. research people, please. the more money that is thrown at bad manufactures the more junk they will produce. secondly make sure whatever you buy is compatable. if its a video game make sure its the right video game for little timmys console, dont buy a xbox game if timmy has a playstation. some games are duel compatable like a ps1 game will play on a ps2 but not the other way around however that doesnt hold true for all consoles so again reseach and alot of games are junk but that also falls under the review part same thing with other products that may require being hooked into another device, car parts for example if you have a machine head under your roof i wouldnt suggest buying him a new pretty screwdriver set if everything on his machine of choice is bolts this is all i have for the moment. if anyone would like to contribute to this thread please do as we should all try to be more informed
My boss likes to come in and give me "helpful suggestions" every day, telling me to do things that are part of my daily routine anyway. It would be great, provided I hadn't already been there a fucking year!!!!!!
forgive me from trying to be helpful considering theres shit products out there that should never be bought, sold or received yet they still end up under a tree. so someone must have problems with impulse buying. but again sorry, ill just try to be a jackass from now on and see if that is any better >.>
I learned that I don't want anyone near my neck. Not that I wasn't already paranoid of people touching my neck anyway...
what if i don't want to be informed? i want peopel to tell me what i want and need to buy it really does make life so much easier - just give in
what kind of retard buys timmy an xbox game for his ps3? the gift is about the giving and receiving not how good quality the thing in the box is. gosh. you sound like some disgruntled obnoxious gift receiver. you know many people don't ever get presents?
