Why do some guys act extremely flamboyant and change their voice, to like a higher pitch?

I guess, I'm just wondering why? My brother's gay and he didn't give me answer. He's also not flamboyant, so I guess he couldn't really answer.

The voice is trained that way from very early on.

Its not just that they are immitating girls, its more specific than that, its what type of girls they learned to immitate.

You have to work out why, they arent going to tell you, and the girls that know are never going to tell you

Maybe it's because the mood suits them. My friends really get going when they are together in a group. Voices rise and everyone starts calling each other "girl". I'm surprised by it everytime since they are usually in a calm state when alone. I'd say culture would have a lot to do with it.

I've seen this happen with other ppl. We had a Jamaican nurse where I work, a young woman who for the most part spoke without the usual island accent.

One day I saw her talking with a group of other islanders and then I detected here Jamaican accent. It comes out when you are surrounded by similar sounding ppl.

I can see that. Heck, even straight guys aren't immune. There's a lot of high-fives, chest pounding, and hollering/chanting (at least here anyways). That's pretty flamboyant in my book.

I asked a gay friend that. His voice had a certain lilt that gave him away as soon as he opened his mouth. He thanked me for bringing it up, and said he wasn't aware of it. He thought it might have something to do with a lack of contact with males as a kid, and an abusive Dad he didn't want to be like.
