I was interested in what people's favorite digital music software program is?

I'm thinking Ableton or Reason are some of the better ones, but I've heard others mentioned like Cubase before and I have owned Acid. Also I'm curious how easy they are to download online and any specific specs you may need to use any of these programs?

    Thanks for the responses.

Sounds good, and if I wanted to transer songs from FL studio to Pro Tools or something where I could add my own guitar playing that would probably be possible you think?

Yeah that should be fine! You'll just have to export the song to .mp3 or whatever audio file type Pro Tools can use then you can add the guitar over top of that, or just add the guitar through FL Studio and add it as a layer in the song.

    Have fun man ;)

i used FL for 2 years. Its great but i got tired of using warez so i decided to experiment with free linux softwares so i suggest dyne:bolic. It is a full operation system, a live disc, you dont have to install anything. its aimed at audio and video manipulation. its great for recording instruments. Its fully free , you can modify it, redistribute it whatever. And it stands for something. Personal freedom. check it out! http://www.dynebolic.org/ made by http://www.rastasoft.org/ it can do less than your pro tools/logic/cubase etc but its worth a try. sometimes less is more.

Torrent Logic 9 - it's not worth the price, but nothing really is these days. It's fairly easy to use but its capability isn't compromised because of that. Pro Tools is meant to be pretty kickass though, my friend uses it at Uni and says he prefers it to Logic - but I can't comment cos I've never tried PT :p

I'm a big fan of Audacity. It's really simple, it's got a pretty decent amount of effects, and it's FREE :)

Been using Reaper for a number of years now and I haven't really felt the need for something else. Guess that means I think it's pretty damn good.:D

I use Audacity freeware mostly. It's simple to use and you can do a lot with it. It's good for many things but not all, for me anyway.

I use FL Studio and i love it. It looks really simple in the step sequencer but with the mixer and all the plug-ins you can do A LOT!.. As for your guitar im sure you can record in FL Studio rather than exporting it into Pro Tools. If you want a good music software i recommend Adobe Audition 3. Perfect for mastering and doing little clean ups to your original track

This has been my set up for several yrs now.

Korg D16 Digital Recorder (without the built-in cd burner) (Hardware)
    Fruity Loops Studio (Software)
    Cool Edit Pro 2.1 Software)
Fruity Loops is not as user friendly as Cool Edit but it has so much stuff I have never even broke the surface of it's potential. I mainly used it for synth and all kinds of sound effects. To me it's a software program that takes time to learn everything, which I admit I never got close. The Cool Edit is very easy to learn and what I used for the final mix (for burning to cd) of everything. You have the capabilities to mix more tracks together than what you would ever need. Very user friendly and has some decent master effects but nothing to write home about. I normally try to do most of the individual track effects and even the master on the D16. I tried several other software's but some were going to be very time consuming to learn or just did'nt have what was going to work best for me. My motherboard on comp bit the dust last yr and lost my copy of FL and have just never replaced it. Actually have'nt got to record much for a while either...bummer it can be a lot of fun. But good luck on finding what will work best for for you.
