I'm so mad... My school Has recently Had an outburst of homophobia. I'm openly bisexual and I can't stand it. Even worse, A couple of catty Queens have decided to start with the "dirty lesbo" jokes.. i can't stand it... What do i do especislly to defend my friends who arent as outspoken as me ...?
I'd just ignore them. I really haven't had to deal with any of it because I'm not openly gay to everybody, but I hear the comments... Maybe a witty comment every now and then would suffice.
All you can do is be yourself, and be there for 'ya friends. You can't really force anyone to change their minds, just be strong enough to stand up for yourself and your friends. Some people act like children no matter how old they get. But if you ever feel like any of your friends are in danger or anything you should go to your principal immediatly.
wanna know what i have to say i'd say "fuck them" homophobes are the worst type of close-minded people ugh i hate close-minded people
I just ignore comments like this. Sometimes I speak up and say something but I am not "out", so most of the time I keep my mouth shut.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Most of the time at my school, nobody's openly rude to the gay students, but every time someone sees a gay/bi student, people whisper, which is probably almost worse than the outright comments. The GSA at school is really like the gay police. They basically stop people from picking on gay students. It's sad that a GSA has to be a secret monitoring force, rather than a club.
We have gays at college, I don't think anyone pays attention... Except that one guy who dresses/acts/has his hair cut/talks like a woman....people find him scary/fascinating/repulsive
If you went to the Gay Forum on here, you wouldnt be so surprised And to the original poster, if you're openly bi, then stand up for yourself and your friends. You dont deserve to be discriminated against. Or you could just sit back and let them talk their shit and act like it doesnt phase you. I doubt they will stop until they get bored or find some new category of people to discriminate against. Ya just gotta deal with it, unfortunately. As fucked up as it is, there's really nothin u can do about it.
It's scary sometimes ain't it? You'd think I've got nothing to worry about being Dutch, but I'm (somewhat) active in the black metal scene, which is inherently conservative, intolerant and unforgiving. Well, so be it, it's not like I'm going to step out or whatever, I love the music too damn much. But yes, this leads to a tendency to file down your flaming behaviour somewhat. I don't have too much problems, I'm not really feminine to begin with, but it can be frustrating. I don't know who know about me and who don't though, so it's a bit of watching your step, yeah. At college everyone knows by the way and I'm not having problems.
We both know what happened last time I did that I totally would not have called that.... Holy shit this thread is full of suprises
