We often hear how man hasnt changed, man is the same as adam, but the bible tells us different. Gen 6 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=gen 6&version=9 1And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
no dont you see, this supports the concept that there was an ancient race that overruled the general population. the God's son's are seperate from Men's sons. I like to believe the old testament is an appropriation of smarian legend
Or it simply means God's followers, as son/daughter ancient hebrew culture could also be used to mean a follower. Back then a father/mother was seen as a teacher, they taught their children everything they knew. The Hebrew language is concrete in thought, and not abstract, so they'd obvious relate a teacher at times to a parent. edit: follower/student
The sons of God were angels. They mated with human women and produced the Nephilum, (giants in the land). These nephilum were canabalistic and quite troublesome. Some believe that the cursed spirits of these beings are actually demons, which have been long thought to be fallen angels. The part that supports evolution is when Cain goes into the land of Nod, and takes a wife. People already existed there.
I seem to recall a phrase "let the waters bring forth an abundance of living creatures," though I personally do not consider the bible to be anything but reflective of the hopes and fears of primitive man.
i think God son is son of adam and eve when they was in eden or before they ate fruit. so that son and daughter at the holy state.
I've never come across anything that supports evolution in the Bible. I've also never found anything that says that which was created could not change. I think if God were to "inspire" man to put together a book that contained ALL the secrets of the universe and answered EVERY question that man would have...then no one would live long enough to read it from cover to cover, let alone translate into many languages and have enough of an understanding of it to preach it from the pulpit and spread its message. Evolution is a fact that is supported by a tremendous amount of evidence. Faith, which Christianity is based upon, requires a lack of evidence in order for faith to be present. To pit faith against fact is folly.
I'll be honest I'm not really sold on that concept Dave but it's something to think about. Thanks for suggesting it.
Why is this in science and technology? It should be lumped in with the religious thread. Science and the spiritual have nothing in common. One is the on going quest for truth, and the other is the belief in the literal supernatural.
