we have bike couriers here who don't fear snow and ice. They have special clothing and if they hit the ground in a slippery curve they just laugh and call the ambulance .

Where I live, it'd be a mile walk to the store, a 5 mile walk to work, and a 25 mile walk to school.

I guess this should tell me something, but what ? It's a similar situation here. OK, it's only 3 miles to our local office, but hey, I walk home every evening if I'm not at a customers site. But you don't have to defense yourself. I'm not against cars in general, I just don't have one.

Coldest I've ridden was 10f. That was just insane. Don't think I'll try that again too soon. I rode my bike all weekend. So glad spring is around the corner.

Jepp, do it. On the other hand being outside is overrated. I have to go outside soon to catch to first train. And it will not be a pleasant experience. Fscking cold out there.
