In a little more than two months, I'm quitting my job, getting rid of everything I own but the absolute essentials of life, and going on a six-week bicycling tour of the American Northeast. I'll be beginning in Morgantown, West Virginia, and the only place I really know I'm going to visit is Edgar Allan Poe's grave in Baltimore.

I'm going to try to go everywhere by bicycle, though I'm not entirely against taking a Greyhound bus once or twice to get to places that I logistically couldn't ride to.

My question is this: does anyone personally know of any places I simply have to go or things I must see? I don't really care for tourist traps. And New York City isn't too high on my list of places to visit (unless I can be convinced otherwise). And if anyone's completed a similar extended tour by bicycle, I'd be interested in hearing about it.
