no not u migration ;P okay guys so i found this baby little bird who a cat almost took and killed but i saved it i think, managed to catch it and get it in an old gerbil tank. what is it going to need to survive and live healthy until its safe to release it? dont want to let it loose, chances are the cat will get it as its parents are probably sleeping. im off to dig up some worms, didnt know where else to put this, and this is the most popular place. thanx
You'd think an idiot cliche hippie, of all people, would recognize humans fucking with the natural way, and let the bird die. Hell, I would've watched. I'd love to see a cat chase down a bird, as long as I don't have to clean it up.
just seeing the cat stride with its evil pride with that tiny little harmless thing that has so much potential and life to live, just couldnt let it happen. score, found my first earth worm, just came up here to grab some tweezers...
would you do the same thing after a lion herd attacks a zebra(or other animal)? would you try to rescue that animal? the cat needs to eat too...its all a big cycle. meh...
its not taking very kindly to me feeding it, trying to get out of the cage... so i just left it in there... all i can do now is hope.
Take it to a wild life rehabilitator. Alot of places its illegal to keep animals you find wild anyway, well everything is illegal anymore so who cares about that. I know alot of times they can have mites and shit that you can catch. I dont know if you can catch mites but I caught a baby squirrel once that fell out of a tree and was talking to the rehabilitator about it. If you call up most vets offices they have their own rehab person.
My advice, stay away from the worms, they can choke the bird unless you feel like mashing it up. yuck. You can usually buy feed for baby chickens and other small birds at a pet store...for now you could probably feed it a mixture of bread and water...that's always worked for us. Use an eye dropper no matter what you're feeding it, to be sure it's actually eating what you give it. We've saved several baby birds who fall out of their nests that way, 3 this year alone. I've never had any luck though keeping the ones our cats get alive...they usually die, maybe they have internal injuries or something, go into shock or something, I don't know, but they usually don't live longer than 2-3 days like that. It would help if i knew what kind of bird it was.
wow birdshit reeks... i have no idea what kind of bird it , i guess i should go take that worm out. i'll go take some pictures though
hey do you know what kind of nesting/bedding material would be nice, so we can get him/her comfortable in his/her new home first... oh and me thinx the birds a wee bit more concious than the one worm i've killed so far...
