YES!!! more than being depressed i was sort of feeling numb, and also very emotional at the same time, not to mention my decresed sex drive (damn microgynon 30!). i changed to Mercilon recently and so far it seems to be working in harmony with my body. There are lots of other types of pills that might be best suited to your body, speak to your family planning nurse or general practioner.

I actually felt great while on the pill. I had some pretty mean mood swings, but they were caused by something else that I was supposed to be on meds for.

TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR about changing your prescription.
Also investigate whether it's hormonal-caused, or if some of the sexual/crying issues stem from depression which happened to hit at the same time as you started on this bc.

    i'm on Ortho-Novum
no because i quit taking the birth control 2 days ago and i'm already starting to feel better so i don't think that its just regular depression. the reason this is so weird for me is i'm usually a really happy hyper person.

It's possible. there's so many kinds of birth control that there should be one out there for you. i used to take ortho tri cyclen which didn't affect my mood at all. weight gain is a different story!

Yes. The first pill I tried was ortho tri-cyclen -- psychotic mood swings all month. I think the next may have been ortho novum, maybe ortho novum lo (if they make that)... Whatever, the next one was monophasic, so I was great for 3 weeks, then spent a week curled up in a ball crying. Cramps so bad that I could barely stand up one day a month is a million times better than being on THAT pill.

I wound up going through a few more, till I found one that was mostly ok, it just lowered my sex drive. So I stayed on that till I heard about the NuvaRing -- it has the lowest systemic dose of hormones of any effective hormonal bc, since the hormones just absorb in through the tissue in the target region instead of having to go through your digestive tract. So far, my sex drive is back to normal and I've had no unusual mood swings (normally had very mild pms, but pms nonetheless before being on the pill).

I used to be on ortho tri cyclen and that shit made me sooooo susceptible to yeast infections. Triphasic pills will do that for some chicks though.

Now I'm on Alesse and it's great for me... one of the lowest doses out there (that isn't labelled low dose), predictable periods (well, normaly, my stress this week has been insane though so we'll see if I actually start tonight or not).

I still STRONGLY recommend talking to your doctor about trying another brand. Not getting pregnant is a hella good thing.

Talk to your DR. about getting you on a birth control with lower levels of estrogen. It will make a big difference.

I was on the pill for a while, I could never remember to take it at the same time everyday and whatnot so they put me on the patch. that made me sick. so now i'm on the depo-provera injection, but i'm having problems with weight gain, acne, and depression. But all in all, i'll take it over the horrendus cramps i was having (the whole reason i was on bc in the first place). Like everyone else has been saying, talk to your doc about changing perscription, or dosage levels.

Every single person that I know that has been on depo has had side effects or got prego.

Yeah, i'll be going off of it next year, because prolonged use can cause bone loss, and since i don't drink milk (lactose intolerant) I don't get enough calcium. I'm going to have to find another good method of bc.

I am crazy on the pill and for a few weeks after taking the morning after pill. I cannot go on birth control it makes me fat (no I do not eat more or exercise less it actually increses my breast size because of the estrogen) and just a complete freaking bitch that I don't even need any reason to take the birth control andy longer ;)

I gained 35 pounds on the depo shot and lost it all within 3 months after it got out of my system. That shot is evil. I had the cutest little body before I got that shot and it has never been the same since.

Yeah, i've gained like 20 lbs. I found a pair of jeans, size 4 that i used to wear. I'm like "yeah...i'll never fit into these again". I went up four sizes. Sad.
