Just ignorant. This isnt all of them but the majority. And my I add that I've met enough blk ppl frm my motherland(Honduras) and I would have to say this applies to American blk ppl manly.
And when I mean ignorant I mean that they lack the interest to understand other cultures. You can say white ppl too but I notice this more from blks un America.
To be perfectly honest, I haven't noticed many white people in America trying to understand other cultures either. That is to say, I think the problem you state has more to do with being from the States than it does with being black.
I dunno. Every weekend in the summer there's a cultural festival of some sort in the city. I see plenty of white folks at all of them.
This is overtly racist. Black people are human beings, no different from any other. People are ignorant. Race hasn't got a damn thing to do with it. Where do you get off judging the majority of a race people? Maybe I've met a lot of Hondurans that like to rape little boys. Would you say that's a sufficient reason for me to conclude that the majority of Hondurans are rapists and pedophiles? This thread is upsetting.
I can't blame American black folks for not wanting to "mingle" and chit-chat with American white folks. American white people are some of the most "sticks-in-their-asses", egomaniacal, superficial people on the planet. And, yes, that is a stereotype (I am as white as they come by the way - 85% British 15% German Jewish) but it is just the fact of the matter in MOST areas of the USA, especially in the suburbs of major cities. So if I were a young, 24 year old, black male and not a white one, I would have no reason or desire to mingle with the snotty white people that I encountered day-to-day. I often laugh at scenes when I see black people who tend to be relatively calm and not hyper-alert interact with extremely hyperassertive, angry, narcissistic white upper middle class folks. It is funny because you can just tell the black folks are like "Jesus Christ. Here we go again. Another uppity white person over-reacting to something extremely trivial and easy to fix." Of course there are exceptions. For example, a lot of white folks in rural America are not that narcissistic nor are those who are lower-middle class (like my parents - steel factory worker and pharmacy technician). But I generally notice the things I pointed out here.
Scarfing down ethnic foods at a festival is hardly an attempt at understanding different cultures. Are you serious?
No, I don't think it is a troll thread. He has written before about this subject and observations he has made at his place of work. I believe it is a genuine concern of his.
"Black people" are far from racist. Same with any race, color or creed. On the other hand, individuals can be. Most blacks I met are more interested in remaining in black communities, black groups, hanging out with black friends. As I said before, reworded- racism is not acceptable. But separatism is a human preference.
My working theory is that racism is more or less prevalent depending upon where you live. Having lived in philadelphia for 20 years I can say with confidence that it is a place with high racial tension. I now live in a mid-size city in texas and have next-door neighbors who are black, neighbors across the street who are hispanic and I am white. Race is not anywhere near an issue here as it was in Philadelphia.
I mean here in Miaimi,Fl. I notice a certain amount of the blk community dont want to understand nor be open to latin culture or anyother culture for that matter...
So they lack interest but are not intolerant? Sounds fair enough. Be careful that you don't apply their attitude on other black communities though. I see no reason why this would be universal (or count for every black community in the U.S.). Only thing that sounds sad to me is that the term black community seems to imply they live apart from the rest of the Miami community. I mean you all live in the same city right... Ideally there should not be any use for the term black or latin community over there.
