they will take a guess at it and then someone will say - hey theres a stack of cash to be made out of this and suddenly a hell of a lot of people will be rubbing their hands saying
"I'm a scientist and I agree thats saint paul"
They will make absolutely BILLIONS from it !

Just how much they will have proof and people supporting the theory - depends on just how much cash they think its worth
I'll tell you that for a fact
unless they play it straight and deny that it is st paul

Well, they haven't opened the sarcophagus yet, so documents within it could identify the body as being Paul. Especially if the body and all other evidence about the sarcophagus point to being 1st or early 2nd century. Will it ever be conclusive beyond any possible doubt? Probably not. But it might be possible to show that it is reasonable to believe that it is actually Paul, especially compared with the amount of identifying data for other corpses and tombs.

Have a little respect for the man who is mostly responsible for the biblical doctrine under which most fundamentalist Christians currently live. Without Paul of Tarsus, we wouldn't have:

    The Inquisition.
    Witch trials.
    The Crusades.
    Jerry Falwell.
    Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker.
    George Bush.
    9/11.
    The War in Iraq.
    Poverty.
    Smallpox.
    Nuclear weapons.
    AIDS.
    Depleted Ozone.
    Acid Rain.
    Giant Redwood Barkrot.
    :H

I knew you would. People find me strangely irresistable I think its because I'm so EVIL. BTW I think Jimmy Hoffa may have had plastic surgery and then became Jimmy Durante.

maybe he was referring to smallpox and other such diseases wiping out indigenous people worldwide thanks to the expansionism and imperialism of the europeans and their fav faith: Pauline Christianity.

Just a guess though, i could be way off....

You hit it perfectly, Shane. In addtion to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, missionaries spread more diseases to backwater nations than your average Atlantic City street hooker.

    Totally by accident, though... ;)

If I hated Christians to the point that I was this paranoid I'd move to a nation where there were far fewer.

Have any of you stopped and aske "why does any of this matter"?
If its St Paul - they will not convince anyone but christians to believe it
they will prove just how big the appetite for wealth creation over solutions really is. If its st paul is this going to bring any solutions to the worlds problems - answer: NO !
Is it going to make shit loads of cash for the mafia and their church bankers? Answer: YES !

Conspiracy theories aside. I agree with you in principle. One of the wonderful things about living in this modern time is the explosion of archeological discovery.
It seems like a decade cant go by without another discovery unearthed which squares up with ancient biblical records.
New Testament and 'Early Church' finds are also multiplying as we go and although we already had records and church traditions recorded along the way its still highly informative and corrects some misconceptions etc.

But will this change the minds of anyone?
Christians already have documents telling us who Paul was, where he was from and in fact we have quite a few letters from him.
    Ok.
Those who want to believe (or really want others to believe) that there was some sort of 'evil paul' or that Paul never even existed will keep believing that.
After all: "You cant PROVE to me thats Pauls bones and..." not to mention making up more 'conspiracy theories' or just extending the ones they already made up.

The one thing I 'might' expect to change would be the unbridled enthusiasm among antichristian 'scholars' to push this senseless 'Pauline Christianity VS some other kind of Christianity'.
Its a false 'battle' designed only to cause division where it isnt,
    However,
Im thinking Pauls body being buried and venerated right along side some other Apostles will (possibly) slow down some of that enthusiasm.

The reason you can so easily accept sentient's argument is because the christian church adopted that philosophy decades ago, to squash good common sense arguments profered by men of science (and good faith) which the church deemed incompatible with biblical teachings.

Scientific discovery and innovation has brought man to where he is today not the teachings of childish biblical nonsense.

    Pathetic

For me its a simple equation. Roman Catholicism can tell the truth about what it knows of god and its claim that god exists or they can lie. By now one would have thought they knew everything - its 2000 years since the birth of christianity. Exactly, on which date is he coming back to earth to lead the world?
If they lie about having anything to teach us - then they are money making scounderels
if they tell the truth and admit they know nothing of gods intentions or of god itself then they risk the wrath of man.
I suggest they are either cowards or scounderels
and this find is one more lie to keep their audience happy and fuel the myth of gods return to earth

A merry capitalism to you all BTW and a happy new network connection

But sentient you're talking about men of the cloth, men of good faith, men who have dedicated themselves to following the path of Christ. To even spew such dogma is heresy, and to suggest they would lie to their followers about the imminent return of the savior (just to fill their coffers) is a sure guarantee of excommunication for any catholic.

Damn just because they occasionally take a few liberties with 11 and 12 year old boys, doesn't mean there isn't faith and power behind their convictions

Normally I would disqualify you for using sexually molested children to 'burn' peoples reps in forums but...

Modern Science is born out of Christianity.
Quite literally developed, sponsored and perfected by Christian clergy and literally comes right out of Abbeys and Universitys.
Modern Scientific method was one of Christianities best inventions and is now the standard around the world.
