Phantom Tollbooth, which I loved at the time, and still do. vince- I wish the school would "force" us to to read KV
that was the trippiest movie i ever saw... i loved spotting all the drug references slipped in! the director was obviously a total head... hehe.. anyways... 1984, Brave New World, Catcher in the Rye and all Shakespeare.
ANIMAL FARM! That was an awesome book... And of course, catcher in the rye, wuthering heights, 1984... I liked all of my required reading books... But I was a nerd, so that says a lot
we had to read "The Grapes Of Wrath" and I thought i was absolutley (sp.) going to hate it.. but it turned out to be a decent book.. im not saying that i loved it or anything
Shakespeare used to be really hard going (the old fashioned lingo went over our heads) but now that I'm studying Othello in college I've developed a real appreciation for the language and stories. Animal farm was the only other good one. Otherwise my teachers had lousy taste in books. This doesn't really count but To kill a mocking bird was the set text for the top set (as in clever people) and I read it myself to see what the fuss was about. Tis a very good book. TTFN Sage
Fareheit 451. The book seemed so dumb at first but started making me ask censorship questions my teacher couldnt answer
Of Mice and Men. I had to read The Color Purple this year and although I didn't exactly love it, it was definatly worth the read,
