generally a passport, unless you are just going from canada to the US..then just a govt. issued photo ID

I'mpositive that I have gone across both ways...often without showing anything, but showing a drivers license once.

You might want to bring a passport with you for the hell of it,but I'm positive you don't need one to get in.

You should really bring your passport along with you anyway. It's no harm to have it.

Yeah, they typically only take a drivers license from me, but I always bring my birth certificate just in case since I don't have a passport.

    how old are you?

put your hair back, look as clean cut as you can.

bring as much id with you as you have, it cant hurt to have too much. if you have a photo id~definitely bring that.

this site looks fairly straightforward and explains all of the documentation that you might need depending on your circumstances: https://www.clippervacations.com/crossing_the_us_can_border

    how are you travelling?
sometimes you need to prove to them that you have enough money with you to survive on and to make it back home, or to show them a return bus ticket, etc. so, bring a bank statement with you, or whatever, so that you can show them that.

I have had more trouble with Canadian Customs Officals than with any other, and I am Canadian. Every time I come back from somewhere, I am one of those few that get their luggage torn apart and gone through with a fine tooth comb. I finally asked them "why me?" and they said it was because I smiled too much and was too cheerful. Huh?

Bring all the ID you have. And if you have any documentation regarding your emancipation, I would bring that too, as at 16 you are still considered a minor. I don't think you would have any trouble, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

and don't smile too much... lol... apparently they think you are hiding something if you smile.

    i sent you a pm

travelling with a friend with dually should make things easier for you.

can you get your parents/guardians to write a note for you? even though you're emacipated, having a note should make crossing the border easier.
