Everyone is bullying me because, even though I've heard the name, I don't know who he is!

For those old enough to recall, Sir Jim'll fix it was of his day.
As DJ and Music presenter he appealed to the Guys and Girls and unlike others of his ilk, knew the time to take a step back from the limelight, realising that a new wave was right for change.
It is moreover his charity work that perhaps made him a pioneer, using his minor celebrity status to promote good causes and even in latter years running marathons showed an actual physical commitment

    Epitaph? “How’s about that then”

I've just got to mention this; he ran the London Marathon at the age of 79.

The guy was about three times my age and he was probably in better physical condition than me. :|

    From elsewhere
"I met a nurse at an OU summer school who worked at St.Jimmy's and who told me that the entire lunch queue would empty of female nurses, the moment he joined it, as he was rather too fond of groping said lady nurses..."

It'll be interesting what stories about him will come out in the media, now he's unable to defend himself...

Sir Jimmy Savile sex abuse claims: ITV goes where BBC fears to tread
The BBC is under pressure to explain why it shelved a Newsnight investigation into claims Sir Jimmy Savile sexually abused underage girls, as ITV prepares to air fresh allegations that he preyed on teenagers.

Fear. Apparently. He was questioned a few years ago. No evidence to go further.

Some of them were but no action was taken.
In 2007, Savile was interviewed under caution by police investigating an allegation of indecent assault in the 1970s at the now-closed Duncroft Approved School for Girls near Staines, Surrey, where he was a regular visitor. The Crown Prosecution Service advised there was insufficient evidence to take any further action and no charges were brought.[58]
