Pretty much once a year or so I get a terrible longg lasting painful chest cough/ some mild broncitis...

I'm not sure what to do about this.

Do any of you know of any preventitive foods, exercises, or vitamins that can help with respiratory problems? or things to do once you already have it?

I'm in a bad case, so I spent some time googling yesterday.
One I was willing to try was boiling a mix of 50-50 water and apple cider vinegar (not white) and inhaling the fumes.
What I got was not the miracles I'd read about, but man, it worked..and everything tasted vinegary all day.
seems to work for 8-10 hours.
    it does smell horrid, though.
the other option was to drink 2 tbsp of ACV with 6 oz water.
I think I'll pass, or wait for kombucha, which has similar acids.

you need to move somewhere warm

have all the treatments you want but you'll find that warmth is the magic ingredient.

cold itself is not the problem, its germs from elsewhere, the cold just gives the germs a gold pass into your lungs.

in the meantime always keep your chest warm

try and keep your head warmish

    wear clothing that will breath

stay away from places like cinemas and places where many people congregate in air conditioning, stay away from smokers and sick people, wash your hands after being in public and be aware of germs on handles and other things that many people touch, hands transfer germs.

it sounds drastic but it might help
