There is no offical Buddhist wedding ceremony that I am aware of, it is a civil service. However I do have a American Thai and an American Cambodian friend that got married several years ago to European Americans. They each had seperate weddings in the Christian and Buddhist traditions. I was only invited to the European versions, but I know Buddhist priests were present at the other ceremonies to give their blessing to the couples. Don't know what that entailed tho.
I know the closest thing to a Guru that I have has performed wedding ceremonies, I don't know any details though
Buddhism is so open and respectful that can easilly live in harmony with other religious practices. There is a buddhist ceremony for wedding, mostly consist in a blessing from your lama, where the Lama stands in front of the couple and make some prayings, while he imagine a little buddha floating over your head, after that he put his hands over your head and keep praying for the blessing of that union. It's a very simple but beautiful ceremony, I havent had mine yet but as soon as I find my lama I will asking to do it for me. arty:
