This appeared in The Oregonian, February 15th Marijuana leaves lead to arrest of two men The alleged growers at a Northeast Portland home made it easy for the cops who came to track them Tuesday night. All the officers had to do was take a call from neighbors who'd spotted men moving marijuana plants out of a rental truck, then follow the trail of pot leaves to the house, said Sgt. Brian Schmautz of the Portland Police Bureau. Officers seized more than 200 marijuana plants from the house in the 3300 block of Northeast Holman Street, Schmautz said, and arrested Phillip A. Gross, 29, and Robert Allan Cox, 27, shortly before midnight. The two were charged with one count each of possession of a controlled substance.
well stupidity is the right word, 200 plants man, if it were me i wouldnt have smoked so many joints before moving them, blatantly they were too fucked to care
About a dozen years ago a friend got evicted from his apt. in the ghetto (1/2 mile from where the L.A. riots broke out; can't get more ghetto than that). Since he couldn't grow when he moved back into his parents' house, he offered me his 8 plants, and all his grow equip. for a pct. of the final yield. The catch was that I had to go get them and transport them to my place (I have a windowless van). I said "How big are they?" and he held his hand about knee-high. Hardly. These fuckers were 5' tall and bushy as hell. When I went with him to his apt. and took a look at them I said "No way Jose". But then he mentioned they were Northern Lights, one of my favorite strains of all time. I let my greed for weed overrule my common sense. We carried these plants, 1 at a time, out his door, past another apt. door, down a flight of stairs, past 2 more apt. doors, out the front door, down the porch and across the lawn to my van. At dusk. I didn't see anyone outside or looking at us, but even if they did like I said this was in the ghetto, where people tend to mind their own business. I then had to transport them from my van down a long driveway to my grow area, but I knew the 2 neighbors within view would be fast asleep when I moved them at 3:30 a.m. As it turned out everything went smoothly. Not only did I get the lion's share of the harvest, I took clones for my guerilla grow out in the woods.
Yeah, a white sheet in the ghetto, that'd work. Moving something around covered in black pastic or anything else woulkd cause just as much attention as bare weed plants
Perhaps, but if you're moving stuff covered in black plastic, people are a lot less likely to call the cops.
My parents where evicted from their place (before I was born). They said that the cops showed up to make sure that they were moving out when they were in the process of moving the last thing from the house; about a dozen young plants that were just starting to flower. The cops stepped over the plants to check the rest of the house. They saw that everything else was already moved out, tipped their hats, said good day, and stepped back over the plants on their way out.
