I posted this in the lounge, but it's a lot more relevant here. Ok, this doesn't involve the police, per se. Me and couple of buds went camping this one time last summer. After we settled in and everything we smoked marijuana in our tent and then decided to go into the woods and smoke a blunt. So we go back there and start smoking. Me and my friend Matt had our backs to the trail, while my buddy Dan was facing it. Dan was smoking the blunt when he noticed flashlights coming our way. He didn't say anything to us and he flicked the blunt without us even noticing. Then I hear, "What are you guys doing? What are you smoking?" Three DNR (Department of Natural Resources) for those who are wondering, came up to us and one immediately put his hand in Dan's pocket, since they saw him with the blunt. He asked him if he was smoking a blunt, Dan pulled out a black and mild from behind his ear and said that that was what he was smoking. He asked us where the pot was and no one said anything, he asked a few more times, and since he already searched Dan, I knew I was next because I had the longest hair. I told him "I'll be honest with you sir, I have a very little bit." He told me to give it up and I did. It was only like half a bowl pack, and I didn't want to lie about it and have them find it and get charged with such a trivial amount. He told me to stand up, and I was ready to feel those handcuffs go on, but they didn't. Then they searched Matt. He was like "do you have any marijuana on you?" Matt said he didn't know. We were dealing at the time and he wasn't sure if he brought the bag, well he did. Matt pulled out about a half ounce. Matt and Dan both got $300 alcohol citations. I didn't have a beer, since I don't usually drink, but coincidently, I did grab a beer but I put it back before I went into the woods. They had a hard time believing that I smoked pot and didn't drink. My friends confirmed it and one asked me if I would have a problem with a breathalyzer test. I told him I would take one, but he didn't make me. Then they made us dump all the beer, it was like three cases of National Bohemian (Natty Boh, it's a Baltimore thing.) They told us that they were going to send the pot to a lab and have it tested to make that's what it was. I told him that it was pretty obvious what it was. He said we'd hear back within six weeks, it's almost been a year, and still nothing. I think it's safe to say that they smoked our pot. We were lucky because if they had searched the truck and tent, they would have found another ounce, some mushrooms a few hits of acid, a scale, a bong, and a few other pipes. We were only there for four hours before we got busted, and they made us leave before 7 the next morning. We ended up staying in a hotel in Cecil County, which we all despise. Seriously, we had an actual long, drawn-out discussion about what method we would use to kill ourselves. Anyway, I am done typing, goodnight.
what sort of authority does the DNR actually have? are they true cops? don't know much about them, but i would have guessed they weren't much more than forest rangers, in which case i would have told them to get a warrant if they wanted to search me. i assume though since they had you go through all that then they had the authority to do so...?
I beileve DNR have at least as much authority as a regular cop, if not more. They have to bust poachers and hunters violating season rules and that sort of thing, so they have to have at least that much authority.
Yeah man, we did that. We were taking bong hits and shit for a while, then we decided to go for a walk and smoke a blunt.
something similar to this happened to my friends not that long ago. they were hunting, and smoking pot, and the game wardens came up to them and searched them and found their weed and took it and said the same thing about blah blah you'll hear from us soon. and nothing ever happened to them, and they never heard from the game warden again. haha guess the game warden had a fun time smoking their weed.
Dude, my dad cleared trails for them/forestry dept, etc. on the Appalachian Trail. I guarantee you that they smoked it. My dad had a friend who he cleared trails with that he was assisting who carried around empty containers and vials from Sandoz labs. They used to confiscate shit left and right from hikers that went off the trail and perched up on a rock to have a toke, etc. He told me one time a guy smoked a joint on the other side of this rock while they were smoking one, then they came out from out around the rocks and then started chilling with him, since they couldn't say anything either... haha.
Park rangers have as much authority as state police. They have guns and can arrest people. I've been discovered by them a few times, but they never cared. One caught me smoking pot, didn't say anything about it, and told me not to be in the park after hours unless I am fishing. After that, I just went fishing when I smoked at that place. Another time, at the same park, a bag of pot fell out of my pocket in front of a truck full of DCNR rangers, one of the ones in the back seat saw it, smiled at me, and didn't say anything. I think they were new recruits. However, I know people who have been fined by them after getting caught with pot, but usually for something else, like underage drinking or littering, which the person was also guilty of. I've never known anyone who has been charged with possession after getting caught by one, but I am sure there are people who have been. Oftentimes, they will watch you in the woods without you even knowing. When my friend was caught, the ranger told him that he had been watching him the whole time he was out there. He sat there, watched them drink, and noted that he had thrown his cigarette butts on the ground and had let them there. He was busted right before he was about to drive home, so the ranger probably stopped him from committing a worse crime before busting him. I think that he got off pretty easy and deserved to be fine for littering anyway. I've always liked most park rangers. They've always been reasonable with me, and I've heard of other people having similar experiences with them. I think most would prefer that you rather not litter than not smoke pot.
I got a lot of respect for you hippieatheart. But smoking while hunting is retarded, irresponcible, and...i dunno...really really bad. Plus think of the animals. :beatdeadh
thats fucking creapy man. Think about im watching you. What if you start fucking a chick and hes just standing there jackin it. Thats....ahhh...im never going in the woods again.
LMFAO! Haha I like my woods because they are basically tall bushes and you know if people are around.
I think that it's kind of sad that you cant mish through the bushes and smoke a joint. If you cant be alone in a forest, where the fuck can you
I have a positive camping story. My girlfriend and I went camping 2 weeks ago and had some killer neighbors. One morning I saw this 40 something year old guy with a really nice pipe and he held it up and signaled for me to go over. I walked over and he said, "take a smoke?" sure enough it was packed with some bud. They were great guys all weekend.
