What should be used to hold the charcoals instead of foil then?

That brings up another point, after a while you'll notice that its harder and harder to draw and not working too well, means its time for a cleaning! From my experience the downstem (if metal at least) will stay relatively clean, but the wood bits on the hose get mighty clogged. Aside from an actual cleaning kit, my friend who is quite knowledgable on the subjext of hookahs told me to wrap the handle in a towel so its nice and safe and to hit it against a wall to knock the shit loose... Haven't tried it myself, but he sells and uses hookah quite a bit so its worth trying, just be careful!
