Does anyone have any suggestions on CDs with good acoustic guitar sounds. Nice and mellow stuff is what I'm looking for. I'm sitting here listening to the Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Masters Collection, and it's fabulous. I love it but I know I can't listen to it over and over again forever, lol. Help me to find more gooduns!
Have it. That's what I listened to over and over again before the Slack Key, ha ha. Great album...my favorite one of his so far.
i would check out Ray LaMontagne and Amos Lee. both great artists with smooth acoustic sounds and vocals. you can listen to Ray here http://www.raylamontagne.com/listen.php
oh yeah, you have to get ray lamontagne! and; fairytale - donovan american beauty - grateful dead everything nick drake has done is wonderful barrett - syd barrett [not all acoustic but real good to play acoustic] spooked - robyn hitchcock [almost nobody knows this guy but he is awesome!]
A couple of all instrumental acoustic guitar albums I really rate are John Renbourn's "Lady and the Unicorn" and "The Hermit" something newer that just came out a few months back I'm really loving right now is James Green's "Tempers" which again is all instrumental done on classical guitar, it was all recorded as improvisations with the premise that if he didn't get the track in two takes he'd discard the improvisation, worked really well too as it is very melodic http://www.earlywinterrecordings.co.uk/
lenamaria, check out our local celtic fingerpicker, Jerry Barlow Fareed Haque /solo Django Rienhardt Michael Hegdes Mark or Edgar Cruz Michael Gulezian Don Conoscenti (has lyrics) KanNal's first disc (self titled) you can get it at Herbs N Arts Colfax at Race. this should keep ya busy!
i vote for the old clapton 'unplugged' disc, and "train a comin" by steve earle. That ones got some awesome hilbilly guitar all thru it.
