I went to Niagra Falls the other night to gamble and drink with some friends. I"ve gone there a bunch of times because i live so close, but Saturday security was nuts! Every single person who was under 25 or not white was asked to go through the immagration and questioning bullshit. They put the car up on wheels and x-rayed and poked around. It took SOOO long! One of us had been arrested recently and jsut for trying to come into Canada, he was told he wasn't allowed to try and come back for 10 years or they'd hold him until a judge appeared. These kids next to us had 1 single joint. One kid was held and the others weren't allowed back for 10 years either! Ever have a hard time going across country borders?
Awww...Canada's not weird. But we get so much shit for NOT being strict at the borders, so maybe they're stepping it up? I don't know. I've never had any trouble getting across the border at all. Maybe you guys looked suspicious or something.
I don't think it was just us. every single person that was under 25 or not white got pulled aside. I thougt it was odd because I normally have no problem getting across the border.
Never had a problem myself. But yeah, USA has been accusing Canada of not being strict enough so I wouldn't be surprised if Canada felt like they had to be more tougher.
When i was a little kid my dad and I went into Canada for the day and they thought he was kidnapping me, separated us in interrogation rooms and everything. Since then the worst was the Canadian guy on the way into BC who was asking me all about what my job was and how much i made....definitely annoying.
Sometimes I'm asked to park my car and come inside, other times I am not. I've been about 5 times I think and three of those I had to go in and talk to immigration, including the last time.
never had a problem, but my and my roomates license is at the Vermont/Canada border on I-89. they never returned it to us when we came back into Vermont for some reason. everyone else in the car got there I.D. back, except for us two, and we both had Massachusetts I.D. i want my license back, i can't drive without it....
border patrol has wayyy too much power. they dont have to report to anybody, they can do whatever the hell they feel like and noone's going to stop them.
Its usually not so bad, you just get stereotyped if you don't look average, or if you are young. They counted my money upon entry to England once, and said "suppose this Judy breaks her leg on the way to the airport and can't pick you up, what will you do then?"
