I'm yet to actually see Capitalism practised in this world... so it would be hard to base my opinion on speculation. It's a very pretty idea though, when performed in the right way. Today's semi-capitalist governments still seem to have a much better quality of life then any other government systems, I just wish that they would elaborate certain socialistic principles into the system.
yeah...not so much. I wouldnt say i was anti-, but I dont like the principles of it. I dont like the unequal distribution of wealth. I think it gives rich fuckers the upper hand. And according to the Conflict perspective in sociology, many problems arise due to the unequal distribution. Look, Im no economist, but I seem to agree with Marx.....I really believe that everyone should have equal opportunity. True communism would be utopia - alas, we shall never see it practiced in it's true form. Now, what do you make of China? Communist government, but increasingly capitalist economy? Its an oxymoron.
well, as much as I hate how capitalism is creating an oligopoly, I'd hate it much more if corporations were owned or managed by the state. i'm pro capitalism in general
My father is a self-employed chauffeur. He started his own business about 6 years ago, after retiring from a Telecommunications company (BT) he worked for for around 30-35 years. Without Capitalism my father wouldn't have been able to even run his own business, let alone make his profit. Without Capitalism my family wouldn't be able to afford to send me to university, nor feed ourselves. How can anyone say that Capitalism is wrong? I'm a Capitalist, but I'm strongly against corporatism.
i am for communityism... everybody owns everything but still there is a place for caretaking and management of resouces and land for those who are interested and has the ability
individually there might appear to be some benefits,... like your going to the uni but as a whole, the idea of owership and amassing wealth leads to greed and exploitation
If by capitalism you mean Free Market then I am strongly pro-capitalist/libertarian. In fact Free Market Anarchism is where we need to end up. Why? Because Market Anarchism (also called anarcho-capitalism) leads to a completely voluntary society where as socialism involves force and coercion. Of course anarcho-socialism is okay, as long as these communes are voluntary (people can leave whenever they want). For all the state socialists here that believe in both the state and socialism, what will you do with people who want to live free from government? Wouldn't it be against hippy principles to force a way of life (in this case giving up your property for the "common good") upon others? And how do you explain all the state socialist failures of old communist states? And Sweden isn't as socialist as you think....they may have a high income tax but business regulation is relatively low. And their high income tax has led to many problems as well. The US, Sweden, ect. are far closer to mixed economies than capitalism or socialism. Maoist China and North Korea are more pure socialist/communist states while Hong Kong and Taiwan are closer to capitalism. Who has greater prosperity, Hong Kong and Taiwan or Maoist China and North Korea? The more capitalist a country = highest quality and quantity possible for the lowest possible price. The more socialist a country = lowest quality products supposedly for everyone, but there are more shortages, government wastage, leading to crappy products and high prices. Socialism works good in theory. In reality it only works in a small commune with under 200 people. But socialism as a whole cannot work because it violates basic laws of economics. And morally speaking, is socialism moral? If it involves force it isn't and against everything hippies stand for.
I dont think that capitalism is wrong, but I do not think it is the most ideal system for humanity.... but I cheers your father for what he did! credit should be given to him....
Very anti - but then again I'm anti-communism as well. Marx had the right idea, but anyone that thinks it can be applied in the real world is living in an ivory tower. What I've found to be the best system (besides Green Anarchy, which isn't s "system" as such) is Socialism, in particular the variant put forward by these guys: http://sp-usa.org
I think the capitalism we have now is a system that encourages greed and creates a huge difference between rich and poor to the point where there is no longer any equal oppertunity. After all, it was a system that was desgined by rich white men for rich white men and it will forever work in their favor. I think if we continue to live the way we do and continue to work against one another instead of with one another we will inevitably destroy ourselves and that's why I am strongly anti-capitalist
money is the source of all evil i hate the stuff but intodays scociety you need which blows i hate the way you cant do what in this life you cant live the hunter gather way any more wich is how were meant to live work causes more stress than anything else and stress is a killer but in the meolithic ages stress wasnt a factor neither was war wich is a business now like any other and if you can turn war into a business and business is capatolism so its wrong stig
Money is by no way the form of all evil; love, and desire for it, is. Without money how do you expect funding for good things: world famine, charities, global warming, et cetera?
