called jeb "the presidents fat little brother in florida" I'm dreadfully amused by this and think that it is politically almost not an issue at all beyond the humour aspect, but politicians tend to make little shit into big......
15:59 2001-01-26 FIDEL CASTRO WELCOMES PRESIDENT BUSH WITH THE PHRASE "I HOPE HE IS NOT AS STUPID AS HE LOOKS" True to form, President Fidel Castro of Cuba launched his first verbal missile across the Straits of Florida yesterday with a venomous speech against his counterpart in the USA. "Someone very strange, who promises very little, took over the great empire that we have as a neighbour. This gentleman arrived and we hope he isn't as stupid as he looks, nor a mafia man, like his predecessors." Since Fidel Castro came to power in 1959, he has seen ten presidents come and go, from Eisenhower to Bush Junior, passing by Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush Senior and Clinton. President George Bush (Junior) has stated that his administration does not intend to change US official policy towards Cuba, and that the embargo will remain until the "political prisoners" are released and free elections are held. Maybe Fidel Castro could ask the Americans for a blueprint for an election process, since they are such experts at it. He could also ask for some advice from President Bush about how to get elected by the courts after getting less votes than his opponent and by excluding undesirable votes from being counted, our correspondent Timothy Bancroft-Hinchey reports from Lisbon. http://english.pravda.ru/politics/2001/01/26/2179.html
i dont think there is anything to be dampened.... people tend to overlook the fact that there is universal health care and education in cuba.... something the man he is insulting could learn a little bit from.... sure their economy crashed when the soviets stopped funding them for their political support, and there is huge social class diversity (ironically much like every communist society), but wheres the real poverty?
I think that ever since he took that header, he stopped caring about how he looks and just started cutting loose with stuff like this.
The lack of funding wasn't the real problem, I think. It was that Cuba lost almost all of their trading partners. Cuba exported sugar, and they received oil from the USSR. But when the Russians would no longer import sugar, Cuba lost their steady income of oil, which in turn create a giant halt in the agriculture sector and elsewhere, which in turn created food shortages, which in turn created other problems, which again created other problem, and so Cuba required new policies. Oil is but one example. There are economic differences at the moment because of the period known as "the special period", that the Cubans had to endure. The tourism industry has "helped" creating these differences. But there have been measures to create more equality in the economic sector. What is the matter with you? A man falls and his kneecap breaks and is divided into eight pieces, and the man had to be operated on. Perhaps he still have problems with his knee. Anywho, I actually think I remember he refused to take any anaesthetics during the operation.
he oppreses his people and has people imprisoned for talking out against him, he is somewhat less than humane, and even if people say he refused anaesthetic, he didn't, he isn't a man who sacrifices of himself, his waistline and his peoples are enough to tell us that, he wouldn't suffer if he didn't have to
Do you have evidence for such a claim? That's a statement. Evidence? Then I must ask why he became a lawyer and took the cases of poor and impoverished people, refusing to take any salary from them. He took their cases for free, which made him a poor man. A poor man, despite his family being wealthy. His waistline? Castro is not exactly fat. Quite the opposite, in fact. What about the people of Cuba? True, but he is a stubborn mule.
Proof? Where is the factual evidence? By squalor, do you mean "unworthiness by virtue of lacking higher values"? Proof?
