I'm still really new to taoism I was reading the tao te ching, and I've always loved chapter 11. The idea that we work with the fullness, but the purpose is achived through the emptyness. I was just wondering if that's something we should just observe, or if there's some greater truth, or something that we can apply to our lives. Basicly, what is the deeper meaning? (if there is one)
In my opinion Lao Tzu is speaking here of the differences between the passive female form yin and the agressive male form yang. When he says that we create what is to use what is not he is simply saying that we should integrate the active side and the passive side equally in our lives.
I think you could apply the thinking here to the notion of Wei Wu Wei, doing, not-doing. Being inhabits non-being.
