Nothing special. It is a White liquor which is Bai jiu means. A would guess any myth about it being a high is only because in china is drank like wine but has a high alcohol content. Either that or one similar to that of rice wine or even other wines. Lai Jiu (Chinese "Milk Liquor") supposedly has more of high.
