Ok..so are there any other homo/bisexual christians out there? lol I know those are wo words that normally don't go together...believe me, I feel it too. I am wondering on whatever insight someone might have. I got into an argument with a cool guy, a psycho-christian (he can't say anything w/out it relating to Jesus somehow..I love him though) that doesn't know I'm bi. He started questioning my christianity, saying that I can't support homosexuality and be a christian at the same time. I got really mad, and just walked away from the situation. Then started crying in the bathroom......grr. stupid girly emotions. Anyway, my boyfriend, who knows I'm bi, tells me not to listen to the people who hate homosexuals and bisexuals, that I'm better than that...but it's still hard when so many people around you hate you just because of who you are.

If anyone has any advice on....pretty much anything about being bi (I'm sixteen and have only come out to my closest friends and my loverly english teacher), but especially not taking things so personal and how to go back at them and stand up for myself. My selfesteem has taken a beating recently, i really need help!! : )
    thanks!

I personally believe that Jesus would have loved homosexuals as much as he did any other group, that was hated by the mainstream poeple.

Jesus didn't write the bible, man did. Jesus says "Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself". Man, some people really miss the essence of what it is to be Christian.

    Thanks everyone for nice responses.
Moonlight, I totally agree with you....some people get so caught up on all the technicalities...Jesus preached LOVE, man, so get out there and love people for cryin out loud! This is what I tried to explain to my buddy the psycho-christian...he said I didn't know what I was talking about.... :/ Go figure.

I'm not religous, all I can say is Christians are giving themselves a very bad name with the way there acting. If they followed what they claim to believe in then things would be alot better.

It's so hard reconciling being gay and a christian..I know all abvout that. At some points your christian peers can make you feel like you carry burden of all sins ever committed on the world, whereas they can go around impineously being fornicators, liars, women abusers, pervs, war supporters, money hungry, selfish individuals. All of them would say "all sins are the same" but the condemnation of gays is completely disproportionate to any other 'sin' for one, but also gays serve as a perfect scapegoats for other people to make themselves feel good about their conscience. I feel sorry for them, because there is nothing worser than thinking you are good when you're the greatest sinner there is.

The thing I found with being gay and christian is that at some point you have to completely extract yourself from the pastor or the next person's discourse, and make a decision for yourself as to what you want to listen. Do your own soul searching. Ask the "Holy spirit" and pray if you believe in that and you'll have your answer. And stand in that with a lot of humbleness.

My own personal revelation was that "Loving is a risk. Jesus took the risk to love the excluded at a time when it was not safe to do it. I am chosing to love myself and other gays even though everything around me points me not to. I make this choice in the name of love and I'm willing to face the consequences of it".

^_^ that makes a lot of sense. I've found you guys are telling me things I already know...but just didn't think I was right because other people say I'm not...It's good to hear that people don't think I'm wrong. Thanks guys, you're really helping.

The Bible: Conservative Christians and Jews have concluded that:
On the basis of many passages in English translations of the Bible, that God hates homosexuality.
    Others conclude that:
On the basis of the original Hebrew and Greek texts, that God hates homosexual rape, homosexual prostitution, homosexual sex in Pagan temples, men sexually abusing boys, and heterosexuals engaging in homosexual sex. They conclude that the Bible is silent on consensual homosexual sex in committed, monogamous relationships.

Pastor P.J. Peters in his article "Intollerance [sic] of, discrimination against and the death penalty for homosexuals is prescribed in the Bible" at: http://www.identity.org/files/homo.html wrote "Homosexuals are willing to...promote their life style...[and] are willing to prescribe the death penalty to those who oppose them."
He uses the term "life style" to imply that homosexual orientation is a chosen, changeable factor.
He takes the inflammatory and perhaps fantasy rhetoric of one person, and applies it to all homosexuals.
"The Christian anti-Homosexuality Web Site" (now believed to be defunct) at http://www.anti-homosexuality.com/ referred to two frequently cited passages in Leviticus. He quotes the original Hebrew text which declares certain behaviors to be to'ebah. This, he translates as "an abhorrence or a disgusting thing." But to'ebah is a religious term, usually reserved for criticizing idolatrous practices. If the writer(s) of Leviticus wished to refer to a moral violation, a sin, he/they would have used the Hebrew word zimah. To'ebah could better be translated "foreign religious cult practice." The author overlooks the facts that the Mosaic code includes as "to'ebah" the eating a cheeseburger, charging interest on a loan, shaving a beard, sowing seeds in the corner of a field, etc.
The Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas has perhaps the best known gay/lesbian hate site on the Internet, at: http://www.godhatesfags.com/ It has the catchy name "God Hates Fags." Their Fag Facts section contains some amazing assertions that they quote from some highly biased sources. Some examples:
that "homosexuals account for half the murders in large cities." (It is not clear whether gays and lesbians are victims or perpetrators of the homicides).
homosexuals account for only 1 to 2% of the population of the U.S.
homosexuals are responsible for 50% of the suicides.
the media age at death of gay men is 42; that of lesbians is 45.
homosexuals are 19 times as likely to die in a traffic accident than the average person.
part of the gay agenda is to turn people away from Christianity.
None of these "facts" are believed to represent reality.

There are getting to be more GLBT friendly churches around. I know for a fact that Universal Unitarian's are very GLBT friendly & United Church of Christ are also. There are also many of the other denominations that have GLBT friendly churches "done locally" I have to run catch a bus so I'm going to have to come back to this for you but you can find quite a bit of information from this site. I think even links to local sensible churches around.
1 source for GLBT friendly churches

to me, the bible is good for nothing but propping up my work desk.
People are people, JeBus was mortal, and apocolyptic preacher. Does your christian friend eat seafood? does he think its fine to well his daughter to the highest bidder?
I was raised christian, I've been baptised and confirmed in the same Trinity United Church. I'm gay and human... nothing more nothing less

Pfft...what a stupid site. I'm not gay, but I am Christian, and I have no problem with gay people...I can't see why other so-called Christians have such a problem with gay people. Everyone just needs to look beyond sexual orientation, just like we look beyond skin color, etc...to the tru person inside.

I hate the way many christians pick and choose which parts of their religion they want to associate with. Christianity shouldn't be about prejudice, it should be about accepting everyone. If we all went by the old traditional views we'd still be casting people into the fires of hell. There is room for progression, I'm sure God and Jesus would welcome it if it meant a more peaceful world.
