I was walking by an outdoor Christian Fellowship event one time and they were preparing for a public event, setting up tables and food for potential new members. Some lady was in the grass opening up a bunch of food cans by hand with a can opener and cussing some pretty good profanity. Not too good of an example for the public. Not many people were around but I heard it easily while walking by.

i admit i'm no expert, but to my knowledge god never said "thou shalt not say 'fuck this can.'"

I hear it all the time, though a more formal synonym for can is used.

Christians tend to be hypocrites. This isn't anything unusual.

Some liberal Christians don't have a problem with anyone using profanity, depending on the context. Saying "fuck you" to somebody is very different from saying "that's fucking cool". And I don't see how believing in a certain book or supernatural being is going to prevent you from wanting to say shit when you smash your finger.

One time, I heard a team having a group prayer before a basketball game, and two of the young guys used profanity in their prayers! Nobody on the team appeared to have a problem with it.

I don't recall any of the banned words on the FCC list being mentioned in the Bible.

Some people from my grandparents' generation used to think words like heck and darn were profane and should not be allowed. I have no idea why they thought that. It seems crazy to me.

Cuss words aren't immoral. They're just considered impolite because society likes to make up little rules like that

Now I have a different way of looking at a phrase such as 'Jesus fuck'.

I would assume that's ok if you're a Christian and you bang your knuckles or something. Or you're just irritated because you have to do some chores.

All humans are hypocrite. That christians seem more hypocrite than everyone else by some people probably just looks like that because their religion has high set morals. This happens to be wellknown to a lot of people and those people project those high set morals on the individuals. They will always remain human in the first place though.

Using profanity while performing some chores is nothing compared with some of the things that go on in established churches and other establishments such as Penn State, if you get what I mean.

Remove the word 'liberal' from the first sentence and this would be a good post.

No, it's not ok. Using Jesus/Gods name in vain is a no no.

You can stub your toe and shout out, "Cock sucking **** bastard shit stained elephant twat!!!!" But its not ok to shout out, "Jesus Christ!"

    I guess I don't.

That brings up the important question: Is God allowed to use his own name in vain? Much like the Christian fellowship profanity incident, it seems like it doesn't set a good example, although technically it might be allowed in the faith.

I don't believe God speaks in language but if he would who would stop God from doing so? I guess God does not need an allowance for anything :p

I wonder what Mrs. Cleaver has to say about all of this.
