i can't stand christians, anything about them. The bible its all bull shit and it contradicts itself so many times why would anybody believe it. and if god is so accepting and loves everybody then why do church goers freak out when a gay person comes waltzing in throught the doors. All the times ive been forced to go to church i was only greeted by being shunned. Im not good enough for any of those bible thumping hypocrites and im fine with that.
I find the people who state "christians are hypocrites" to be the most hypocritical and ignorent of any human being, and the worst part is, they're so proud of themselves for being "open minded" but they are not. In Canada 80% supports gay marriage, and only 40% are christian, so where do you get this idea that christians hate gays?
from all the protests where they say they hate gays and that if youre gay youre going to burn in hell, if god accepts all people then why would he allow gay people to go to hell?

As an Agnostic/Atheist, I know how you feel. Christians worry me about where the world is going sometimes. But not all of them are bigots. You have to realize, contrary to popular representation, that when you have two extremes, there is a large grey area, and this is where the majority lies. Plenty of Christians may not even be considered conservative. And about your 'sorry' post... you should think about how you sound when you say things; I don't think you can get any more straight foreward than "i can't stand christians". This shows the extremity of the generalization you're making. Religion turns bad only when people use it for bad intentions; if someone sees something in a particular belief or philosphy, that in and of itself is no reason to dislike them. As I said, I know where you're coming from. It makes me angry sometimes, too; like a few minutes ago, where this guy I really like posted a chain bulletin on Myspace-- a set of Dear John letters from hell describing how bad it will be if you don't believe. This guy seems 'open minded', but things like this make me question it and the beliefs of everyone else. But you just can't go through life letting them get to you like that, it's too short for bullshit. Try to put that energy into getting a better understanding about WHY someone may believe what they do. That helps cool me down.
thats a good point and i guess i should do that more often, but im just saying from all the horrible experiences i have had with chrisians sometimes its hard for me to get over how felt about it it. Once in the youth group my friend didn't show up so i went to talk to another girl and she literal looked at me and said can i help you? in the rudest way possible
You are irrational and crazy if you don't think that unquestioningly believing in a mythical book written thousands of years ago won't transport you to a magical land of Jesus and wonders after you die. After all, it is in a book, and a lot of people believe in it, so it really must be true.

the majority of the posts in this thread are basically saying "i hate religion," but everybody is saying christians specifically. i suppose that's because it's cool to hate christians on a hippy site but you might offend some buddhists if you mention them
Don't confuse bible thumping hypocritical western christianity with all christianity. Just because Catholicism is becoming increasingly fucked and Western churches are always sending mixed messages doesn't mean all of christianity is so fucked up. I'm an eastern orthodox christian, which means the traditions and everything in our church traces back to before the pope, the crusades, and all that shit. I'm personally very proud of the fact that my particular experience with christianity has been a positive one and not one filled with mixed messages and constantly changing "infallible" rulers. The core message is (supposed to be) love and acceptance, just because people came and fucked up doens't mean the message is horrible.
Gay people do not go to hell. People who don't accept Jesus go to hell. You can be a black gay murderer and get into heaven. Like hell, if you're going to rip on something please actually know what you're hating.
Who said I was Christian? Just because I support the choice doesn't mean I am one. I was just poiting out he knows fuck all about the religion and should not shoot it down. ok enough! yikes, calm down. i happen to be an atheist, but i don't go around saying i hate christians. i believe that god is imaginary, that there is no heaven or hell, etc. but i don't go around insulting people. THAT is what is the matter with SOME christians. not all, some. generally the people who protest gays and such are undereducated, extremely dedicated (sometimes to a dangerous level) to the church and have been taught to be hateful and intolerant. it isn't that these are bad people. they have been taught to hate others, which is terrible, but it happens. what people forget when posting here is that no matter how good your point is, you are always preaching to the choir. no one is going to give in, say "oh you're right" and change their beliefs because you convinced them to. if you believe something for long enough, it becomes utter truth, if only in your head, and it is near impossible to change that.
