I've been on wellbutrin for 6 weeks and am now starting with the cipralex (lexapro) as well. I take 300mg wellbutrin and 10mg cipralex in the morning. Since adding the cipralex I've been unable to ejaculate. It usually takes me minimum 30 mins - 1 hour to get there, but now it's nearly impossible. I was successful once but it took around 2 hours. I haven't noticed any decrease in libedo or problems getting an erection, it's just finishing up thats the problem. Will this go away as I get used to the meds? Anyone here been on this stuff before? This is my first SSRI.
all it did for me was give me massive headaches i didnt notice any other improvements or side effects at all..the headaches stopped when i stopped taking the pills
Wellbutrin is a Norepinephrine and Dopamine Reuptake Inhibitor. Neither of these Neurotransmitters, when elevated, lead to sexual dysfunction, but DO help alleviate depression very well. But Serotonin, when elevated, can lead to down-stream brain changes that also help with depression. So some folks like to target all three "mood" Monoamines (Serotonin, Norephinephrine, and Dopamine) to get best results in depression. However, when serotonin is elevated, it activates a receptor called 5-HT1A which regulates hormone secretion. Unfortunately, this leads to sexual dysfunction in males and females. This usually doesn't go away until after the medicine is stopped. And you are on a low dose of Lexapro, so going lower wouldn't really help. I would talk to the doctor about stopping and switching to something else if you do not improve by the next doctor visit.
