im doing my english essay on cloning, I know theres tons of stuff on it and could easily find websites, but I just want to know everyones opinion on here. Is cloning right or wrong?

If you created a clone of yourself.... and you killed it... would that be illegal and considered suicide? *lol stupid question but it sounded cool*

I do believe that... If cloning is going to be accepted, the cloning should have a positive purpose, and it should be done in controlled forms. I fear that we could damage the natural system on our planet, if we are to clone in an uncontrolled manner.

personally, i do not agree with cloning, it is upsetting the balance of nature. i do not believe we should mess about with life. i think it is unethical. and where will it stop, we can't just clone humans because we can or even for a reason, because that clone would then also become life, and therefor if used for science would be considered unethical to screw with life. just my opinion based upon my ethics, we are not god

We've been cloning plants for centuries.

hey I don't think its right.. yes we were modyfiing plants for centuries but only lately we do not use traditional methods (like.. sticking branches of fertile trees into non-fertile ones, etc.) but we started combining these weirded out genes together, like these fish tomatoes that can grow in high altitudes..

I find it wrong for several reasons:
    1. The effect of these things on our digestive tracts is unknown since it hasn't been too long they were on the market
    2. Cloning living things can't be done properly yet since we don't know how (the main prodlem - genes undergo warious mutations in the new host - the egg cell) and all the sheep died very shortly after(Dolly-I think she lived the most 6 yrs), not mentioning thousands of other trials that were at the beginning
Now how's that, a murder or what?
    3. Now theoretically - what happens to the ecosystem once these mutants (eg. sheeps and fish-tomatoes) are released to the "wilderness" - well I think the most apocalyptical vision is that they outnumber the nature
    4. what about cloning human embryos - do you seriously believe it will end up with organ donations? stem cell donations? even if, how ethical is that?
    5. cloning ourselves is too far out there (and maybe not) but why would we even want to do that?
    6. But I do like that idea of cloning some healthy genes and splicing them in the chromosomes instead of the mutated ones

    that's all
