They make horrid noises. Every time someone rings us on the telephone they start screaming and the person on the other end of the line thinks someone is being brutally murdered.

    I love birds,though.

I've never had a cockatoo but I've had cockatiels and the screeches they would make were horrendous! I agree though, birds are pretty sweet. I miss my ole parakeet. He was the shit. He had sucha potty mouth, would always sit with me while I would take a bath and try to dive in, and he had a thing for mirrors and ummm getting off looking at himself. Ultimately, my dog thought he looked like he would taste good and died :( .....maybe one day I'll get another.

HAHA! That's funny. Your cockatoos need your attention probably. That's why they make noises.

I only have one, but we are thinking of getting two to keep each other company. We give him alot of attention. Just, whenever we leave the room momentarily(to go to the loo,or pick up the phone) he screams. He has his good days where he is quiet, and only screams once a day, but other days he screams ALL DAY only quitting a few times for a few minutes. It is usually tolerable but when I have headaches, and ear aches, OUCH!

On our farm we get them in the thousands, they tear up the paddocks, and create choas wherever they go.

Gang Gang Cockatoos are the go, 4-5 times as big and better personalities.
