ok so ive had them since i was a child.. and i still get them occassionally maybe 2 to 3 times in a yr.. ive had 2 within the past 4 months mainly because of citrus oranges in football and using towels other ppl use.. my question is.. ive been thinkin of doing oral to my GF.. is this a bad idea since i am vulnerable to cold sores will this not be good for her.. or is it 2 different kinds of herpies? (simplex?)
cold sores or canker sores? unless you were cursed with herpes at birth, you're probably refering to canker sores, which are caused by anything from diet to hormones to environmental stressors. those little white sores INSIDE your mouth are not herpes. those oozing blisters on your face and lips ARE herpes. if you have regular sores like the majority of the world, then you can give oral. wikipedia.com will help you determine which you have. look for canker sores and then look at cold sores--BIG difference.
sores outside the lip.. i knwo many people who have them.. i dont get them too often.. but every now and then.. so that clears it up.. can i still give oral.. if i do whats the worst case senario?..
yeah, dont' do it while you have a cold sore, or for a couple days after to be safe. You could always invest in some dental dams too if you wanna do oral without infecting her (basically a latex sheet between your mouth and her pussy)
from having cold sores.. say i havent had one in weeks or months.. what are chances of passing it to her.. or something like that?
I actually have the same thing (*twitch*) and they've appeared ever since I was around the age of 10 or so. Looking carefully enough, I have two scars on either side of my bottom lip (thankfully though, quite hard to notice). I've read up on the subject, and I've found that they are, in fact, contagious, but if you wait a few days after they heal, the contagious aspect goes away until they reappear. Another tip - That abreva stuff really works. Put it on the first day, the $12 for that damned tiny tuble is definitely worth it. I haven't had any for a year or so, longest I've ever gone. Last year was when I began using abreva when they appear, and since then, I haven't had any. Just as well, last year I broke off an abusive relationship, and a few months later, began my current one. Readings and Articles have proven stress to be a very large factor. I hope I helped rather than bore you
Bilistic, You need to be careful. Yes, there are Two kinds of Herpes virus. Type I is usually "upstairs" and Type II is ususally "downstairs," but either kind can occur either place. You CAN pass cold sores from your lips to her "lips." Sorry. However, from what I've read, the advice above about when you can spread them is mostly correct. Read [thread=46779]the thread on STDs[/thread], at the top of this topic, and check the links in there for some basic information. You're never 100% safe. It's part of the risk you take by being intimate these days. I caught an incurable disease from my first lover. We are still together, but it has stressed us beyond belief. We are still trying to work through it. If you want to, you can read more about it [thread=104659]here[/thread]. I'm not saying you should never go there, but just be careful, and both of you need to realize what can happen.
All true. Please follow their advice. Another resean for it might be your diet or immune system. Do you take vitamins? If you do than I consider getting tested for herpes. I do get cold/canker sores but it because my immune system is soo low but if I stay healthy and take vitamins it doesnt come back. My doctor told me about this and It been like this since I was young. But if you wanna give oral, its best if you use like suran wrap or use the latex gloves that doctors wear, just to be safe. My gf and I do this when this happens(which is very rare, i get it like 1 or twice a year.) Good luck and hope we all helped. P.S. check your immune system is low? Also check blood count? That can also be part of it. Not enough white blood cells to fight off any bacteria. Wow, I should be a doctor.
