I thought maybe some of my mothers could help me out here.. here is the whole thing. currently, i live in michigan and would like to move to either a florida, or california school for college. somewhere right on the beach, ocean side, and if california, preferably somewhere southern. as for the size, i would like something bigger, but intimate and small is something i would consider as well. i want to go into something as teaching, or the arts, photography, perhaps. I want a college that is very laid back, nice people, helpful teachers, and a generally good atmosphere. i am not that great of a student, at all, and i really messed up junior year, i got something like a 1.5, 1.8. My ACT's wern't good either, I think I got an 18. So, I need something that is not hard to get into, as that may be a bit of a problem for me. Financially it can be anything. i also need something with a lot of stability, dorm rooms, and a college that will help you individually. I have a non verbal learning disability so I may need extra help at times. Please, please! If anyone knows of any colleges that sound like I might be interested in, I would love to hear about them.. I am getting a bit desperate. Thanks sisters
You may want to go to a community college and then transfer out to a university. sorry i don't know much..
That's actually good advice. There are community colleges that you can live at, I think. They really are helpful for a lot of people, especially those with learning disabilities.
Around where I live (Monterey), there's Monterey Peninsula College and the Monterey Institute of Language, but it's $38000 a year (not including housing, food, transportation, and books). If you go about 40 miles north, there's UC Sant Cruz. I've heard the teachers are good and the courses are good, but it is on an EXTREME liberal bias (a few months ago, some soldiers went over there and set up a booth for people who were interested in joining the military, no, not drafting, just standing there in case anyone was interested, and there were so many war protesters there, and they started getting violent and drove the soldiers away. So basically you either agree with them or they start an uprising against you. Not that I have anything against people who have different political views, but at least let other people express their opinions!). There are also UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, Chico, Fullerton, I believe one in San Diego. Those are all the UCs, and there are also many religious colleges (Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, Nazarene), and some colleges for women, such as Mills College. Mills is in Oakland, so it's right across the GG Bridge from San Francisco.
california state universities require a higher gpa from out of state students...i think it's somewhere around a 3.0.
i'm not sure if its what you are looking for but check out the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. Very close to the beach......
