thats right, comfest is coming. i'll be there every day, probably nearly all day long. if you live in the central ohio area you owe it to yourself to check this out and help contribute your funds to donations, beverage sales, and the comfest merchandise booth. this FREE festival has been going on for many years but struggles regardless of this to bring in enough money to KEEP it going. if you are over 21, please don't bring your own drinks.

there will be several stages with live performance, mostly local musical groups. also featured are usually things such as poetry readings, martial arts, etc.

there is plenty of room to spread out in the grass and just relax, play frisbee, hack, smoke some pot, and meet new people.

cops are present pretty much mostly for security reasons. there are rarely fights, but thats what they're there for. as long as you don't light up in front of them or try to sell a lot of drugs at the festival, you should be ok and they won't hassle you for being you, because no matter how wierd you are there are going to be far wierder people there.

there's also a plethora of vendor booths, offering incense, jewelry, music, clothing, VERY reasonably priced glass pieces, beer, wine, various foods from funnel cakes and colas to curries and teas, and many organizations set up stands for petitions and dissemination of their views in literature (christians, krishna consciousness, pro-hemp, bastard nation, communists, etc...all kinds of people)

the festival is located in the Short North (the Columbus art and gay district) in Goodale Park. While there you may wish to check out Pride Fest and the parade which starts at the streets surrounding goodale early saturday afternoon and makes it's way to the other festival. while there IS a seperate gay festival, it is entirely independant from comfest as far as i know, and there is no prevailing sense of seperating groups at comfest.

if you live in the area, you should check it out this weekend!
